Commercial Description:
Thunderhead Red balances a smooth caramel malt base with a light hop bitterness. A wonderful hop aroma from Northern California's best, provides the final accent to this classic American Amber Ale.

Contract brewed for Native Brewing Company.

Tap. Amber color. Aroma of sweet boysenberries. Neutral flavor. Light malt, light bitterness. Hints of fruit. Boring.

Tasting at Brewtopia. This was a surprise. It was from a fresh keg. Pours an orangish color. Aroma is malty with some hops. I get some citrus hops and some caramel malts. The flavor is surprisingly robust for this style. Almost a bit chewy with some good malt backbone and a good dose of hops. Citrus and floral hops hit the tongue followed by a good sweet malt.

Sampled @ Hallandale beer fest (tap). Pours dark yellowish-brown. Weak nose and flavors: rusty heavy metals, malty, a little salty. Thin. Sampled at Hallandale beer festival, where it seems they like to pawn off the stale beers.

Tap at Yardhouse PBG, FL. Aroma has moderate notes of roasted, cookie, and caramel, hops smell of moderate pine and herbs, light earth for the yeast and wood in the background. Head is creamy, white, with excellent lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is copper/red with a slight haze. Flavor is very lightly sweet and lightly acidic to start and finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is light, watery, with a lively carbonation and finishes lightly astringent and dry. Nice smells and fairly light on the flavors, but a good drinking beer overall.

Draft... Clear orange ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Decent retention. Crystal and caramel malt nose with additional notes of grapefruit hops. The flavor is all toasted caramel and toffee with low residual sweetness. Leans a shade on the sweet side of balance, but the PNW hops keep things in check. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Malty, moderately bitter finish.

On the menu as Native Thunderhead Red at the Yard House in Palm Beach. Draft. Poured amber in color with a thin off-white head. Sweet malty aroma. The flavor was slightly roasty with caramel and chocolate. Mostly sweet but a hint of bitterness in the ending. Light to medium body.

Draught. Nose is fruity sweet malts with a hint of cherries. Pours deep amber red witha patchy thin head. Opens smooth, but folds into a harsher sweetness. Very drinkable and tasty, but nothing complex.

I know nothing about this beer but i had it on draft march 2005 and thought it was refreshing, nothing spectacular but i finished it fairly quickly. I had it on draft at Cafe Tu Tu Tango and have not seen it since.
