Commercial Description:
An Amber colored German Lager traditionally released in time for the Oktoberfest celebration in Munich, Germany. FSB’s version is full bodied with a sweet malt finish followed by a bit of toffee flavor. German Noble hops were used sparingly to give just a touch of hop flavor and aroma. Last week some German guy was extremely intoxicated after drinking all day at the Oktoberfest in Munich and managed to get himself stuck in a chimney for 12 hours.

A standard dark orange pour with a good amount of cream colored head. Surprising amount of lacing. Malt, grass aromas with some slight citrus and pine. Very nice malt flavors, caramel/toffee. A little bit of red fruit and hops through the finish. Almost medium bodied and fairly lively in the mouth. This is not exactly standard for the style in that it has stronger malt and carmelly sweetness. I think that is what makes this better than your typical Octoberfest. I would say this has improved from the 2007 version.

(Whoopsie! Accidentally entered this review back on 10/20/07 under the IOWA Front Street Brewery.) Cloudy sunset amber with flecks of orange. Short-lived head. Bready aromatics with a bit of nut and toasted grain. A twang on the palate initially. Maltiness rides shotgun to an odd lactic feel. Huh? Thinner feel that I’d like. Not your average oktoberfest. I’m not so sure this is even an oktoberfest to tell you the truth...

Draft at brewpub. Pours a dark reddish orange color with a foamy tan head. Lots of hints of malt and barley. Some caramel detected. Finished thin and light on the palate. Beer must be made to pair with food.
