Commercial Description:
An American style India Pale Ale. If you like hops you’ll like this beer. Large amount of American hops give this ale a great citrus hop profile and large amounts of Vienna malt were used to create balance.

Draft at brewpub. Clear dark copper with a nice lasting head. Aroma is caramel malt. Flavor is cereal-caramel on front and slight hops on finish. Light-medium body. Slightly better than average IPA.

oured a subtle copper color. Very much transparent. Head of white foam that quickly dissolved. Nose was essentially non-present. Picked out just a slight hint of hops. Flavor was very subtle for an American IPA. More akin to an English style with an amped up hop bill but not particularly bitter or powerful. Malts quickly overpowered any real bitterness. Medium mouthfeel. I have a hunch this would be quite nice if served on cask and dry hopped.

Pours a golden color with a white head. Has some lacing. Has strong hints of hops. Finshes light bodied with a bitter piney hop taste.

As ’Port City IPA" at the 2007 Hickory Hops. Clear copper, niced sized beige head. Clean, crisp resiny aroma. Very refreshing. Fairly piney at first, and a bit of smoke in the end. Dry, earthy finish.

"Port CIty IPA" pours a dirty straw color with a tiny head. The appearance saddens me, but then the other characteristics more than make up for it. Intense aromas of piney grapefruity hops. Subtle grassiness. Quite enjoyable; I could smell this for hours on end. Smooth IPA with pine-drizzled grapefruit; dry-hopped I would bet with all the hops lingering on the palate. Ample bitterness. An excellent drinker. If need be, I would drive the 4 hours to Wilmington just for this beer.
