22oz bottle. Nice presentation. Poured a deeper and slightly hazy amber - almost brownish- color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of strong toasted nuts, caramel, and lighter roastiness. Tastes of caramel, nuts, toasty, chocolate, and I was getting a little burnt brown sugar. Alcohol content well hidden.

22 oz bottle. Pours dark brownish red color with slight white head, which does not hold well. It has a good flavor, some nutty notes with a bit of caramel. There are some good malt flavors as well, and it is quite smooth. The beer is very good, but it certainly is not very great, there are better doppelbocks out there, but this is good for an American brew.

Bottle garnet brown with no head. Caramel and molasses aroma and taste with a nice toasted almond flavor and chocolate notes.

Muddy reddish brown with a thin white head. Aroma is very malty, with just a hint of cinnamon and some caramel. Flavor is malt, yeast, caramel, hazelnut. I’m trying to find something that I really like about this beer, but I just can’t. It’s good. No doubt about that. But it’s just about as average as you can get. Oh, well.

Hazy, nutty brown. Boozy, nutty aroma, chocolatey, caramel. Dusty, brown malt flavor, somewhat dry for a doppel. Good, but not as complex as some of my favorites. Clean, softly bittered finish.

Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Mostly clear dark amber color, thin broken soapy head. Sweet caramel aroma, very mild and complimentary spice component, a hint of smoke as well. Nice taste - real sweet but balanced by spicy malts and light smoke. A good dopple.

Sample from November 21, 2008 beer club meeting. Dark and syrupy. Smoky aroma, but not much else. Flavor is also smoky, woody. Something different about this… good… light for a doppelbock but a good recipe.
