Excellent flavor befitting a Doppelbock, but it has a small hoppy kicker to it as would befit a Left Coast beer. Pleasant to drink. If you like Doppelbocks give it a try. Heck, if you don’t necessarily like Doppelbocks, give it a try. It might just convert you! DuffMan (2769), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 28, 2008 On tap at the Falling Rock in Denver (post GABF 2008). Dark, clear tea-coloured amber, thick almond head. Aroma of caramel and bananas. Palate is sticky caramel malt, and an estery fruit character that I can’t shake, like cooked bananas and peaches. It just doesn’t fit for me. Finish is fruity and sweet. I know I’m against the grain here, but I didn’t really warm up to this, even though normally I love this style. rm0312 (36), Idaho, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 27, 2008 From the bottle: Poured a dark amber with a fairly decent head that dissipated quickly but left some strong lacing. Good aroma…malty and sweet. Good thick mouth-feel. Interesting spice in the taste along with the malt that I was smelling earlier as well as some of that 8% ABV. I’ve not had a lot of doppelbocks but I think this one encouraged me to try a few others to compare. Gregis (1134), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 26, 2008 Bottle shared by theisti. Thanks for sharing this with us, Tim. Pours mahogany with a thin cap of creamy off-white head. The nose is of dark caramel, toffee and a light smokiness. Medium-bodied and slick with a dry, almost woody finish. Lightly spicy and smoky dark caramel malt dominate the flavor profile. It’s not a bad doppelbock, but it is a bit drier than I’d prefer. fidel (995), Livermore, California, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 25, 2008 This was a pretty good beer. Quite malty throughout. I little carbonated. Certainly seemed a bit on the thick side though. I may need to buy another bottle as I am confused as to whether I really like this or not.
