Bottle, sampled at Christmas during family beer tasting. Amberish brown in color with a small tan head. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel, cocoa, nuts and some light fruit hints. Flavor was very nice, blended and balanced. Caramel, fruit, dark fruit, brown sugar with a bit of subtle earthiness. This was probably the stand out of the tasting as I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Huge malty aroma. This beer packs a punch with the malt aroma. Little head retention. Somewhat dark/caramel brown, but not as dark as I expected. The aroma is decent, but nothing to wet your pants over. Hint of smoke and malt in the flavor. A nice toast and nut flavor as well. A nice complex flavor. Not very hoppy. This beer has a decent flavor. Not an amazing beer, but decent. THis beer does not have a big flavor to it. Very mild. Not a great palate. An average beer. I figured they would go over the top for this one, but the did not.

Pours a brownish, dark amber color with a small, khaki, fizzy head which is mostly diminishing and leaves minimal lace. Nose is simple, even for the style; notes of toasted malts, light caramel, some cocoa, and just hints at some nuttiness. Flavor is similar but a bit richer with lots of cocoa and toasted malts, light caramel, light nutty notes, a mild bitterness, and hints at smoke. Palate is good; more than medium, lively, smooth, lightly chewy, and lightly crisp. Finishes average, mostly sweet with lingering caramel, light smoke, light toasted almonds. A good American doppel with good rich notes, lots of drinkability, and some complexity. Not Ayinger’s but the best American example of the style I’ve had.

Pretty nice brew, shared by Bobby91W and taken from notes. Pours a muddy brown, with slight red hue. Aroma is nuts with a touch of syrup. Flavor is sweet and candish, with notes of barley, carmel, malt, and sugar, and apple. Slight spciey notes as well. Little on the thin side. Pretty good.

pours a dark amber maple syrup color which gets muddy from the yeast sludge. it*s cap is off white, vigorous and short lived. the aroma is grainy and malty sweet with notes of chocolate, fruit (berries?)and caramel. lots of malt and barley in the flavor profile though it is not nearly as sweet as i had expected... very soft and well mannered. toasted nuts, caramel, floral alcohol and light chocolate show up before a spicy peppery kick on the clean finish. definite yeasty character in the aftertaste. medium bodied though fairly creamy... easy to put a few away and not notice the abv%.

nothing really jumps out... 7/3/7/4/15/3.6

Bottle. Pours dark brown with an average, fizzy, off-white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt -cookie, nutty, toasted grain-, light hops -herbs-, average yeast -horse blanket, earth- with notes of apple and brown sugar. Medium bodied, oily texture, average carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.

Decent doppelbock which hides its alcohol well. Tastes kind of oaky and feels a bit fuzzy in my mouth. Fairly average.
