Had somewhat of a funky malty base taste, some caramel and I don’t know what. Definite hopping noticeable in the aroma and flavor, mostly floral styles. haddon90 (1036), Alexandria, Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jun 5, 2006 Draft at ABQ airport. Deep amber color with a nice frothy head. Definite malt notes. Not much in the name of hops. Mild taste. Goes down easy. Light, dry finish. I was hoping for more. Should be a little rougher around the edge. jackamackson (127), USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 3, 2006 Updated: Oct 3, 2007My Full Sail Amber has been stored away for a long time, imprisoned in a cardboard box underneath a bed, waiting to ascend from its obscurity. Even when I pulled it from that shallow four-cornered chamber it resonated with uninspiring tones. The label is another crowded piece of paper with a bedsheet blowing in the wind for its mundane logo. The style, too, is inescapably boring. Ambers are one of my least favorite styles for their monotonous and uniform taste. However, if we must elect one the most eminent of these droll drones of domesticated dynamism to directly demonstrate the drab doldrum of amber ales I’d choose the Full Sail Amber. It’s typical aged tree sap color raises no eye brows, but curious for its type is the full aroma of hops, malts, a little lemon like an iced tea, and a pinch of fresh ginger root. The taste pares down to a simpler sentiment, delicious by all means but elementary. A deep, rich malts counters a stinging hops, all while swimming in a viscous syrupy mass. The oily texture of the Full Sail Amber lends it to incremental drinking, which in turn encourages slow and pensive beer talk. No matter how minimally flavored a beer may be, anything that fosters rumination, contemplation and remonstration in a milieu of digital distractions is a fine brew in my book. presario (2983), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

To say the least, I disagree whole-heartedly with the majority opinion on these two! Mklein818 (165), Etterbeek, Virginia, Belgium
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 18, 2006 I got this in a care package from my brother in Portland, and to be honest, I kind of dreaded opening what I thought would be yet another over-hopped American IPA clone. But the mildness and roundness of Full Sail really ensnared me--sure there was a little bitterness, but there was also a faint acidity and a hint of maltiness. It reminds me much more of a Palm or a Vieux Temps (Belgian pale ales) than an over-hopped US microbrew. You can really smell the hop, much more than in most ambers. The taste has some sweet carmel to begin, but balanced well with hops. Overall a very easy drinking beer.
