| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 5, 2004 Attractive coppery appearance, with a good, plush cushion of off-white foam floating above, eventually settling into a tight ring. Aroma, quite a pleasant thing, fruity, malty, mellow. Hops are seldom seen so far in this one, but it’s plenty estery, and very nice.
These features return in the taste, with a perfect balance, to boot. Seamless integration, mellow, smooth, but with enough taste to make this easy-quaffer a joy to slide down the throat. A benchmark example of this style.
I hadn’t had Full Sail Amber in so long, I’d taken it for granted and forgot how good it is. I still personally prefer the hoppier brews, but this is just right for food, parties, or just drinkin’.

Hoppy and nutty. Drinkable, a little sweet. motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 9, 2004 On tap at Koji Osakaya (Lloyd Center), Portland. Sampled 5 August 2004. Relatively clear orange-brown body with a thin off-white head. Grassy, medium hops aroma with notes of caramel. Rich caramel, fruit, toast, and brown sugar dominate the body which finishes with grassy hops fading to bitterness. This is what a good Amber Ale should be. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 7, 2004 Amber color with off white long lasting head...smells very malty and a little hoppy...tastes very bland, but drinkable. Smooth caramel finish... Uriel (144), San Jose, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 2, 2004 Beautiful caramel color, with some lacing. You can definitely smell the hops, more strongly than any malty notes in the nose. A wash of malt, then the hoppy flavors on the middle of the tongue, then serious espresso bitterness that lingers. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 21, 2004 A very red amber ale with short head, but great lacing. Caramel with hints of chocolate and espresso peeking in from time to time. Body is mostly creamy but also fizzy at times. Nice bitter finish.
