Thank you Nate for this great beer. Pours an extremely dark brown with a slight beige head. Nose of bitter chocolate, cherries, alcohol, and a hit of oak. The bourbon and oak definitely make themselves known in the taste. Some roasty chocolate, a little bit of fruit sweetness, and coffee. A nice balancing bitter finish. Really a solid beer.

From 2006 bomber courtesy of BückDich. Great aroma. Bourbon, oak, chocolate, caramel, woody ... absolutely sublime. Alcohol and esters. Delicious. Dark black, impenetrable in its body, with thin brown lacing head. Medium-heavy oily body with medium-light carbonation. Warming and absolutely palatable. Good stuff. Starts with bourbon, oak, fig and plum. Alcohol, light coffee, and medium alcohol. Alcoholic warming with roasted malt and bourbon notes. Tasty, with mild bitter finish and alcohol finish. Just absolutely declicious with a nice complex mixture. Nice example of a bourbon barrel beer. Great balance. Tasty - an abolute treat and almost impossible to describe accurately. This is what beer is supposed to be ... beyond expectations and description. Thanks Jordan!!

Black with a tan head. Strong smell of Bourbon, oak and vanilla is intoxicating. Big whiskey oak boozy taste up front with vanilla and rich blackened malts. Full bodied and smooth. Finishes with a bourbon taste on the breath. Great beer, glad i have a few of these to age. 31606

Vintage 2006 Pours opaque black with a modest, beige head of a quarter-inch. What head did arise, quickly faded to a few whisps of bubble trails. Aromatics are heavily bourbonized. Bitter chocolate, charred malt, and dark roasted coffee beans are well integrated and support the prevolent whiskey. The mouthfeel is thick, chewy, sticky, and lightly syrupy. Low carbonation adds some sophistication. On the thinnish side of body by todays American RIS standards. The pallet is, as promised, a blast of bourbon. Plenty of Imperial stout character, but the whiskey overwhelmes it. Not a bad thing, eh? Dark, bitter chocolate, espresso grinds, acrid black malt, and charred oak follow through the searing alcohol. The finish builds with plenty of numbing heat, lingering bakers chocolate drizzled with Kahlua, and vanilla. At 2 years old, this beer could still use some additional cellaring to help round out the booze. Luv’s me barrel-aged Imperial stouts, at any age tho!

Courtesy CaptainCougar. Thanks Tom for sharing this. This poured out like motor with a pitch black color with a thin tan head. The aroma on this one is incredible with a blend of a lot of different smells. Hints of chocolate, roasted malts, thick caramel, and bourbon. It has a really rich and bourbony smell to it. The flavor is almost nearly the same and just as rich and decadent as the smell. The vanilla and oak are more prevalent now with the bourbon and chocolate blended together perfectly. There is a great balance between the bourbon and the other flavors, it doens’t dominate at all. The mouthfeel was medium bodied and thick that went down so smoothly with the caramel and bourbon flavors leaving a long trail behind. This is just an awesome beer all the way around, and am so glad I got to try it. This should definitely be rated higher than what it is, and I wish I could get more of it.

Courtesy CaptainCougar. AWESOME BEER! Pours a deep, dark mahogany brown to black body. A small, frothy tan head leaves behind minimal, random flares of sudsy lacing. The aroma is absolutely sublime! Chewy chocolate malts meld perfectly with massive notes of bourbon, vanilla, rich caramel, and nougat. This is about as decadent an aroma as you will ever find, particularly if you are a bourbon lover, like myself. The flavor is nearly the perfect compliment, with rich layers of dark and milk chocolate, caramel, and warm, oaky bourbon coating the tongue in luxury. I could easily kill a bomber or two of this over the course of a night. The mouthfeel was medium-round and slick, just a hair shy of a perfectly full. Finishes moderately long, with that same bourbon and caramel flavor. Awesome beer that is well underrated, IMO, even at 4+. This should be a top 50 beer, easily! I want more!
