Bottle Pours a deep, dark brown with red highlights. It’s underachieving tan head starts as an incomplete cap, then fades to a tiny ring of bubbles. The aroma is a bit faint, with some coffee, chocolate, a hint of fruit, yeast chalkiness, and minerals from the water treatment. The flavor is on the thin side, with a roasted coffee flavor leading the way. Some chocolate and caramel help to lend a bit of depth, but this isn’t all that interesting. Ends with an acidic undercurrent, some brief hop flavor, and a mineral note. Body is really lacking, and the acidity towards the end only adds to the problem, as it thins it out further. As it warmed, a bit of smoke appeared. This is a decidedly average porter from a usually solid brewery that’s too heavy-handed with the water treatment of their brews.

Poured a clear, dark brown with ruby edges and a thin tan head. Not much light gets through this. Roasty aroma with chocolate. Flavor dominated by chocolate, light caramel with some roastiness and coffee. Light hoppiness followed by acicidity. Moderate mouthfeel and carbonation.

Started out okay with hints of cherry and chocolate in the nose. A dark brown color with an off white head that eventually disappears. Drinking it was when things went bad. Watered down coffee and black licorice flavors. With a long harsh metallic finish. Couldn't even finish it.

Float coffee beans on that head. Very dark brown color. Coffee flavor present, not overwelming. Average, not too bitter or too sweet. Expected more.

Deep brown, tan head. Nose is lightly roasted and chocolate.Taste is a balance of chocolate and carmel malt with a medium dry end. I don't notice the hops others refer to. A decent beer, but rather unremarkable, and slightly bland

A little less black then "really black". Head was light tan and faded quickly faded. Nose was the same dirty ashtray that I get from all porters. About what I expected. A bit thin on the tongue. Boring. Body began to emerge as it warmed.

A very nice porter. Very nice color and flavor. A little bitterness on the head.

Tan, creamy head, mostly diminishing. Lots of coffee in the aroma. A little sweetness, too. As for flavor, it's mostly coffee with a little chocolate undertone, back to the coffee in the after taste. Not too much bitterness, right in the neighborhood of just right. This porter falls into style where I really like them, not too bitter, not too sweet.
