(RBSG04) Black body topped by tan head. Aroma is dominated by the bourbon (which of course smells very nice). Taste is sweet, chocolate up front, before turning strong bourbon (with light chocolate mixed in), light alcohol burn in swallow. Medium body -- weird to have what essentially tastes like bourbon have such a light body.

Brown and dark. Creamy head and spotty lacing. Strong bourbon aromas. Under that, some chocolate. Too much. Flavors are much the same. Sweet malts coming through but the bourbon is not lettling the rich beautiful beer that it was out. Why break something already so good?

Pours black with a tan head that leaves some decent lacing. Roasty aroma with some coffee notes, but mostly the aroma is dominated by the burbon cask smell. Taste is very rich and sweet, heavily improved with the barrel aging, making this brew very smooth and much more complex.

The body is a dark ruby black and a nice tan head tops it off. Big aroma with strong notes of vanilla, bourbon, chocolate and caramel. This is definitely on the sweet side. The strong smell of bourbon really makes this taste stronger than it is. The end result is something that reminds me of whisky-soaked brownies.

Rerate 1/15/05: Pours completely opaque and very viscous with a nice, lightly lacing dark tan head. Aroma is still powerfully bourbon but seems to mesh better with the sweet roasty malty undertones. Very well balanced and tasty. This will last for some time.

Rich oily opaque blackness with a thin tan head. Aroma is mostly bourbon with some thick malty undertones. Body is sweet and malty with nice roasted flavor and has some tartness from the bourbon. Finishes clean, rich, and smooth, masking the alcohol very well. Very complex and well-balanced. Thanks to harlequinn for bringing this to the Georgia 14% gathering!

Dark black apperance. Extremely thick mouthfeel almost chewy. Aroma was coffee, plums, and motor oil? The flavor was outstanding consisting of oak, burbon, coffee, and plums. Overall this was a great drinking experience.

Wow, I was surprised to see this beer in the data base. I had this several years ago before it was released and was told that it would probably not be released. The Headbrewer sent me an unmarked bottle and I can say nothing more then it was a heavenly experience to drink. Heavy, heavy whisky notes in the nose- smelled of straight Jack Daniels (which I believe were the casks they used). It was MUCH stronger then 7.2% though, I swear.

Tap@Pilsner Room, Portland. Very rich and sweet. Full on bourbon/liquer like qualities come through straight away on the nose and in the flavour. Raisins, smoke, peat, vanillan oak, a lot of different flavours coming through. Very malty and complex, and sweet, perhaps a little too much so.
