Draft at Bittercreek: Dark brown pour with a smaller tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma is light and simple with roastiness and coffee, light bits of mocha. Flavor is very balanced with roast and coffee. Chocolate plays a minor role. Bits of smokiness in there. Creamy, enjoyable, and drinkable.

22oz bottle from BevMo Mission Valley. Pours opaque with a ruby hue. Head was good sized and tan in color. The brew got better as it warmed and dark fruits, coffee, and aromas of cocoa became abundant.

Pours very dark brown, nearly opaque. Firm tan head about 1 cm high that lasts a good while. Rich coffee and dark chocolate aroma with burnt malt, leather, and red wine. Mellow taste. Chocolate, coffee, smoky malt, toffee, oak, and anise are prevalent. Everything seems to be at the same level, and kind of mutes each flavor instead of complimenting it. A good beer that could be better.

Bomber. dark brown pour with one finger head. Aroma of toasted chocolate. The flavor has the mocha/chocolate thing but it’s a bit thin an fiizzy on my tongue.

Merritt Island Throwdown ’08: Bottle, courtesy jayg. Pours a dark brown with red highlights. Wispy little tan head, with sticky lacing. Dark candy aroma, with caramel and roasted chocolate. Roasted smokiness in the flavor, but subdued overall. Boozy malts mix well with caramel and chocolate. Bitter, but easy going. Decent, nice finish. Overall not too palatable.

Bottle from BlackForestCO, thanks! Pours black with a medium milk choclate head. Looks very oily in the glass. Massive aroma of dark chocolate, nuts, and black licorice. The taste was the same with light alcohol in the finish.

Bottle shared with Timfoolery. Poured black with a medium sized tan head. Stong flavors of chocolate and coffee dominated the beer. Somewhat thin-bodied which left the palate wanting more. Good beer, but doesn’t live up to some of the better Imperial Stouts.

Bottle from Market of Choice in Ashland, OR. This brew was a very good example of the Imperial Stout, although it didn’t show like the best of the bunch. The taste was consistent with some of the best stouts I’ve had, but not Imperials.
