The poured a deep black with a thin tan head. Aroma is light chocolate and coffe but faint. The taste is the same only strong on the roasted coffee. This was an slighlty above average beer but not really that memorable. Cheers! mar (1940), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 25, 2008 Pours a mostly opaque oily dark mahogany with a thin, wispy-lacing dark tan head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty malty notes with a touch of drier, earthy roasty character. Body starts a little thin for an imperial stout with some mild sweetness and drier, earthy, toasty character before a dry, grainy finish. Needs more fullness and complexity. shp555 (1690), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | May 23, 2008 Deep brown pour with a mocha head that has some staying power. Nice lacing. Both the aroma and the taste reminded me of medicine. Average mouthfeel. Aftertaste brings back the medicine. bb (2930), Martinez, California, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2008 Tasting Room - Another nicely done beer. Some of the flavors initially get lost in the large amount of roastiness, but as it warms you get a light hint of smoke, lots of roasted coffee, going from roasty to somewhat burnt, scorched on the bottom of the pot roastiness, but gives way to some rich dark fruits, and lots of milk chocolate. Not a vast amount of completity, and slightly uncomfortable on the palate, this is still a good beer to drink, just a little more rugged and unrefined than I was expecting. jerc (3954), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

(3+) Moderately roasty aroma, mild coffee notes. Flavour is quite bitter, muddled coffee roast, lightly burnt, malt base. Average to medium bodied palate. (3+) Something about the roast character that I do not care for on this day. At Rudolf’s, shared by Blankboy
