Unpleasant fruity esters. Harsh medicinal fumes. Slight acidity. Spicy/herbal hops. Lightly roasted coffee flavor. Medium kilned caramel and semi-sweet chocolate. Burnt sugar aroma and flavor. A touch of cocoa. Bitterness of roasted grains. Thick malty aroma. This beer would have been a passable Scottish Ale had it not seemed like the brewing methods failed.

Thanks Hayduke! Dark mahogany in color with a nice one finger head than has good retention. Beautiful lacing. A sweet malty aroma is light chocolate with some oak. Flavors are subtle but nice. Malt dominated with oak, vanilla, and some background hops. It is a quality offering by Full Sail. Nothing big about this one but quality ingredients and craftmanship make this a pleasant beer to drink.

Bottle: Pours a dark amber color with a nice puffy tan head. The nose is malty with a rich caramel flavor, light earthy hops and toasty wood note. The flavor is earthy and deep with a sweeter raisin note and some additional caramel. The finish is lightly smoky with some additional maltiness and sweetness. Good scottish.

As far as Scotch ales goes, this is semi-weak. As far as a Scotch ale from FS goes, it’s really not bad! And it was nice to see them attempting the style. Pours dark amber. Smells of lots of sweet dark fruit malts, tiny bit of spice. Flavor is a lot of dark fruity malts in between the regular hop profile FS uses, and ends with a light earthy smoke. Very light. Medium body that’s slightly watery in the middle. Beef this guy up a bit and you’ve got yourself a dandy!

On tap at Full Sail in Hood River. Colour... dark amber with a thick head. Nose... malty and hoppy, but not overtly so. Palate... plenty of carbonation, sweet malt, light hops, floral, toasty and a fairly long finish.

Bottle: Rich amber color with a brownish tint. Small, creamy beige head and thick sheets of lacing. The nose is rich with malts, toasted malts, and a light earthiness. The taste is a dry, earthy and malty sensation before finishing with a rather intense floral hoppiness and lingering peaty taste. Almost smokey in the end.
