Reddish color, wispy head, smells like a scottish ale, very malty, a little smoky. Mouthfeel was weird and made me think it was thin even though it covered the tongue pretty good. Tastes like a scottish style ale, good malty flavor, not bad at all.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 9, 2009 22Oz bottle pours a clear but very dark chestnut brown with a modest but very dense light tand head. Slightly sweet woody aroma. Like an old growth forest after a rain. Slightly earthy and peaty. Notes of brown sugar and wet paper grocery bags. Rich malty flavor. Some caramelized sweetness with a touch of cinnamon and toasted grain. Woody and earthy here as well, with some bitters after it goes down and your mouth dries up a bit. Lingering bitterness is more classic IBUs but finishes nice and moderaetly sweet.
I like a decent Scottish asle...and this is a decent one. ¾ (5006), Boulder, Colorado, USA

Frothy, viscous, moderately chewy for the style, well-mashed and hefty on the tongue. Sweetened tobacco, pine, plum, light toasted grains, little bit of toffee, little hint of roast/coffee. Tasty, unoffensive, delicious. fidel (1013), Livermore, California, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jul 1, 2009 Bottle… O’sS&BS-I-T-YVBThrowdown… Clear, dark, ruby ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The understated aroma is meaty, a dab chocolaty and a touch metallic. Medium-bodied and watery with tingly carbonation. The flavor is sort of beefy and leans on the bitter side of balance. Lingering, lightly bitter finish that eventually dries out. Thanks to smith4498 for sharing the bottle!
