This beer was lighter than I thought it would be with a short but good lacing head. The aroma is peat, roasted malt, and seaweed? The flavor is dominated by peat, a flavor I love in my whisky but have not become accustomed to in my beer yet. Mouthfeel was odd, and left me wanting a different beer. I quickly finished this beer so I could move on to something else. JaBier (1261), Capital City, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 16, 2009 Bottle. Pours clear amber with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt, sweet berry and caramel. Sugary caramel flavor with a touch of hop and some smoke. Could stand to be a bit less sweet. DTM (541), Winters, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 15, 2009 Bottle from BevMo in Vacaville, CA. Poured a carmel color with a good sized head. Smelled of spices and herbel hops. Carmel flavor with a stong herbel finish. Very distinct flavor, but just a little off on the palate. Very average brew. Dogbrick (2869), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 12, 2009 Thanks to Homerwantsbeer for sharing. The beer pours a mostly clear reddish-orange color with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily. Top ring of lacing with spots underneath. Aroma of hops and herbs plus some mild malt. Medium body with a fairly hoppy character for a Scottish. Some toasted malt and caramel flavors as well. The finish is moderately hoppy with a bitterness left behind. Overall a decent beer but the execution within the category is suspect. BillKismet (1950), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 12, 2009 Deep amber body that is well-carbonated and bouying a thick burnt caramel colored head. Medium malt nose with some woodiness and a hint of peat. Easy on the nostrils with light fingers of sweets. Medium amber malted body, candi sugar, cotton candi, and bubble gum flavors, but not overly sweet. No perceptible hops. emacgee (1892), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 11, 2009 Via trade. Pours a dark ruby copper with a one finger foamy light tan head. The aroma is sweet, malty, nice developed raisiny/caramel aromas, mild yeast presence, good malt profile. The flavor is sweet, malt balanced by a noticeable hop bite that is lacking in the aroma. Smoky/peaty flavor, some sherry like oxidative notes. Palate gets to be astringent and the hop character feels inappropriate to the style. DigitalMan (119), Idaho, USA

Malty, tingly, a slight hop bite. Nice one. A bitter coffee note starts to appear as it warms. sneagrams3 (1759), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
