| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 12, 2009 Bomber bottle. Poured a clear brown with little head and no lacing. The aroma began with spices, malts and candied sugar but warmed up to highlight some peatiness and earthy tones. The taste is mossy, bitter, not quite as nuanced as the aroma but still pleasing. The palate has a slight coffee bitter finish to it. IrishBoy (2712), Bakersfield, California, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 8, 2009 Draft. Mahogony beer with a small light tan head. Malt, caramel, and light citrus aroma. Malt, caramel, light citrus, and a light herbal (mint?) flavor. Medium bodied. Caramel, malt and light mint lingers with light citrus. Strange mintiness to an otherwise decent beer. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 4, 2009 Bottle Pours out a dakd amber topped with a off white head. Aroma malts and a little caramell. Tast of more rich malts along with some hop bitterness. trevor211 (504), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 3, 2009 Pours an earthy brown with a light tan head. Aroma is dominated by toffee syrup and caramel malts, with just a bit of bitterness, some dark fruits (dates are prominent), and some spices, as well. This is quite an odd brew - tastes like it’s trying to be more like a Belgian quad, but ends up too bitter and dry to get there. Malts dominate the flavor, but it has a slightly medicinal taste that I’m really not digging. I’ve always known Scottish ales to be very drinkable, but this one falls short. Not bad, but certainly not great. Beardface (1001), Eugene, Oregon, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 3, 2009 22 oz bottle from Fred Meyer in my hometown, Newberg, OR. Pours out a mahogany hue with quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is caramel and peat, very earthy. Flavor much the same with a little grassy hop flavor as well. Not one I feel much need to revisit. Especially disappointing coming after the amazing Porter of theirs I had.
