What’s this? A Dunkel? Eh. I’d call it an Amber with character. Pours an amber color with a little head that leaves absolutely no lacing. Scent is like an amber with a hint of peat. Flavor... yeah, you know, it’s an amber with a bit of peat. So not quite an amber for style, but a dunkel? Eh. It’s not...bad, it’s just not very good.

Bottle, pour a nice dark red color, with a thin head. Some malt flavors nice hops, easily drinkable some sweet malts balanced against pine hops nice and a quick drinker.

I found this at Bottleworks on a recent trip to Seattle. Since LTD 02 was solid I decided to give this one a chance. It was a bit of a letdown; in hindsight I wish I would have picked up an interesting local instead. That’s not to say it is bad just very average.

Aroma / Appearance - A thin beige head dusted the caramel brown body underneath. Cherry cough syrup and maple syrup were improved by the smell of vintage books. I was expecting more complexity from a dunkel.

Flavor / Palate - The chewy mouthfeel is thick enough to coat the tongue in cough syrup and pancake batter. Nothing is cohesive; the flavors just sort of come and go randomly. This is slightly above average overall but a very disappointing dunkel in my book. I won’t be picking up a six pack of this if it makes the trip to Ohio.

Pours with a low white head and amber color. Carmel aroma. Not as crisp as I would expect a lager (dunkel) to be. I did drink this quite cold (~37F). Everything is quite average. Thanks Carsten for bringing this beer over for me to try.

I am not LTD, "living the dream," with this beer. Pours a watery brown with absolutely no head. Aroma is hops and nuts but very light. Flavor is watered down nut extract with hops. I definitely agree with previous raters comment on flavors of soap. Just not impressed by any means.

This is a rather odd dunkel, tasting much more like a brown ale than a dunkel. Pour is medium brown with no head whatsoever. Medium high carbonation. Flavor begins candy sweet, , becoming roasty, ending extremely soapy (like a feminine floral soap, maybe rose or lavender), and this soapiness is the beer’s most obvious problem. Alcohol is well hidden. Not sure what kind of hops used in this batch, but this should be examined...

I am not familiar with the dunkel category. But this is a fine session brew. Smooth and well balanced malty taste. Hops are present but not bitter. Hard to believe this is 6.4% abv. This is a second run of the LTD01 originally a limited edition. I hope this will become a staple for Full Sail Brewing. I could drink a good amount of this beer. Poured into a 14 ounce tumbler. Nice head which slowly went down. Good amount of lacings. The flavor is a bit sweet due to the roasted malt character. Good value and well recommended.

Aroma is a mild roasted scent with faint sour tones. Color is a light amber with good carbonation and a thin head. Taste is crisp and roasted. Starting with a light/medium body it goes down with a crisp feel. Finish comes in with a faintly sweet malt taste that has a nice roasted tone that gives it a nutty taste, then a bitterness comes on leaving with a crisp feel. In the after taste the roasted flavor turns just a little smoky. This is a nice easy drinking brew, but its nothing special.
