Woody caramel and faint earthy hop aroma. Toffee and caramel malt base with some hop spice and mild roast. A little chemical in the finish. Palate is light and a little fizzy, but ok. I’m not the biggest fan of dunkels, but this is ok, just a little boring and not really worth seeking out. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 27, 2007 Amber color and an aroma of caramel and bread. Malty, sugary sweetness dominate with a little hop bite in the taste. Not bad, but almost a knock off of Sam Adams Boston Lager (maybe thats a bit unfair of me). OK, but I wouldn’t waste too much time seeking it out. Nuffield (2724), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 10, 2007 Not bad; it’s a malty lager...oh, I see, it’s a dunkel...I didn’t know that going in. But while it has a general roundness of malts and some tasty caramel, it’s a bit flat on the back end and undistinguished in finishing flavors. Drinkable, very average. Clear honey gold with a tall, long lasting, off-white head.
Cotton candy aroma.
The flavor falls flat with a dusty aftertaste.

Poured a deep orange, with a brown tinit, color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, some citrus, nuts, and light chocolate. Tastes of light chocolate, caramel, toast, and grains. Some lacing left on the glass. decaturstevo (1997), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 22, 2007 An aroma of brown sugar and malt. A deep copper brown pour. A sweet malt flavor and a sourish bitter finish. Good carbonation and decent mouthfeel. A good beer that the flavor follows the dark color quite well. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 19, 2007 The beer leaves the 12 ounce bottle a brownish red that is crystal clear, the head is light tan in color with a creamy texture and about 1 inch thick. Nose has a nice sweet aroma, hints of caramel; also I get a small whiff of orange peel. Start has a nice malt profile, slightly sweet, with a bit of sourness at the back, top is medium in feel. Finish as a nice spiciness from the hops, acidity average for the style, dry aftertaste, a nice beer, not equal to the German Bock’s, but a fine beer in its own right.
