Bottle. Aroma of dark fruit and effervescence. Good body and mouthfeel. Sweet caramel malt throught the flavor; slight roasted flavor also.

Beer poured much darker than I was expecting. After reading the label "an easy drinking limited edition lager" I was expecting something light. But don’t get me wrong, this was a BEAUTIFUL brown/red pour, a pleasant surprise. Aroma is big and potent, pure malt, tons of caramel. Flavor is much the same: lots of caramel, dry, round, and even the finish is caramel. I can still taste it long after I’ve swallowed the beer. One thing lacking though... bitterness. This beer has none... NONE at all.

12-oz. Pours a deep ruby-tinged brown. Thin white head that falls quickly to a ring of foam. Hollow nose, a little bit of bread there, maybe a whisper of caramel, but maybe not. This beer would clearly be a lot more comfortable if you didn’t notice it had stopped by. Maybe it’s going to ask you for money later. Very mild attack; thin body, light carb, very little flavor--just some weak caramel malt and then some bready yeasty aftertaste (that’s right, aftertaste, not finish). These guys let the sales success of their amber get in the way of too many of their specials--they mild everything down until there’s nothing left. Blah.

Bottled. Beer is clear medium-dark amber brown with a small, white, frothy, mostly and quickly diminishing head.
The aroma is malty with moderate notes of deeply toasted grain, toastd wheat crust, dark caramel, biscuit; Hoppy with an herbal trace of grass, trace of lemon zest; Yeasty with a light note of basement; Light miscellaneous note of starchy dried stone fruit/currents.
The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter with a long, warm, lightly bittersweet finish. Pleasing warm backdraft.
The body is medium, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is lively.

Thought I had rated this a long time ago. An okay beer, with not the expected amount of sweetness found in most dunkels. Carbonated but just okay.

A 12-oz bottle shared by Brewfiend. Pours a heavy muddy copper brew with a thin white head. Too fast of a dissolve. Aroma has roasted barley malt, sweet biscuits, pitted fruit, and a touch of caramel. Taste is medium body, lots of carbonation and a slight acidity aftertaste.

Dark amber pour with quickly disappearing head. Watery malt nose. Sweet malt body with faint caramel and a bit of sourness floating around in there.
