First, its a really nice red color with a med, firm creamy head. Pleasing aroma of toffee-caramel, hinting at crystal and munich malts. A light hop aroma is there too, some spice, flowers and grapefruit. Flavor so well rounded, smooth soft and creamy, with a big caramel malt presence, leading into a nicely hopped spicy, balanced finish. Everything about this beer is just how it should be. I want more, more and more. If I had this around, it would be my new regular drinker. Cybercat (822), Georgia, USA

It pours a clear coppery amber with a nice thick off-white head that sticks around a while. Flavor is rich and malty with hints of cloves and cinnamon, caramel, and corn, as well as a hint of hops and just a whisper of sweetness. Texture is fizzy and smooth, rather pleasing. Satisfying overall. ChainGangGuy (2616), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 2, 2009 12 oz. bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a deep, dark mehogany-hued body with a modestly-sized, ivory-colored head.
Smell: Pleasantly aromatic maltiness with notes of toasted bread crusts, nuts, dark caramel candy, and a teeny tiny pinch of cocoa, supported by a spicy hop scent.
Taste: Toasty, nutty, caramel-covered malts with a toothsome, sugar sweetness. Nearly indistinguishable cocoa hint. Lightly spicy hop character with a mild, subdued bitterness. Sweetish, lightly nutty finish, though the aftertaste dries out in a flash.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation. Yes, there’s just a pinch of chewiness to it.
Drinkability: Recommended! Rather enjoyable and a pleasant surprise. I could cheerfully clear through a few of these in one sitting. ¾ (5009), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 2, 2008 12oz bottle, BBD April 2008. Rich and malty all over, the Full Sail house character is really evident, and I’m a big fan of it. Chewy, resinous nuts, wood, dried leaves, with caramel malt and munich malt abounding, and a light, proper bitterness level that really compliments the malt base. Fresh and vibrant, really overall a solid effort. Delicious, and based on the ratings, underappreciated.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 4, 2009 Great rich brew, pretty much on par with a good German bock. Pours a dark copper with a quickly dissipating head. Bready, with some nice cocoa notes and very pleasant sweetness. Minimal hop presence, with a nice smooth finish. ryan (1781), Beltsville, Maryland, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 3, 2009 12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Dark copper color with a creamy beige head that gives way to a thin cap, leaving wisps of lacing. Aroma is dark bread crust maltiness with a tinge of orangey hoppiness. Flavor is nutty and bready with a very significant hop presence. A little caramel, a little candied orange, some cocoa powder, and some roasted malt. All the flavors blend together nicely to make a very tasty (although not exactly bock-ish) beer. Light bodied, nice carbonation level, no trace of alcohol. Very drinkable.
