Full Sail Lupulin Fresh Hop

cascade version on tap at papago 11/8/2009. hazy coppery brown with a one inch beige-ish head and moderate drippy lace. lots of flowers on the nose... esters (could have sworn i got banana on it!), spice and dirty earthy hops. malt is there as well... just really hidden. the palate and flavors follow the aroma... very dry, earthy and almost oily with a defined note of cooked cream. it is a bit flat and terribly one dimensional as it lacks any real malty/caramel sweetness or body. not to say that’s a bad thing since i really like the cascades and quaffable brews. it is parchingly dry and somewhat bitter on the finish. 6/4/6/4/14/3.4

Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Amber, clear, a little fiery, moderate carbonation, nice lacing.   Soft hop nose, seems a little soggy, bit of earthiness.   Light hop profile on the tongue.   Not thin, but could use more body and malts.   Clean, a little earthy with some wet paper bag aspects.   Not as fresh as I would have hoped.   Fairly average, but a bit of a let down as far as a fresh hop ale goes.

Tap at the brewery. Was given the option of either Cascade or Crystal hopped versions, and went with the Crystal. Poured a vibrant orange with a small white head and huge, sticky lacing. Aroma was floral and citrus hops with not much malt coming through. Flavor was floral and citrus hops, a light spicy kick and a bit of toffee malt. Normally IPAs are my favorite style at any given brewery, but this was actually one of the ones I liked least at Full Sail.

Pours pretty - a ruddy amber with a small, but dense head. Hop forward on the nose, with a good balance - nice, if a little weak. Nice sharply bitter flavor - it doesn’t taste fresh, but it’s good. Full mouthfeel, and while I appreciate that the hops are the prominent flavor, I think it could use a bit more balance - this one’s one-dimensional. Tasty effort from the guys in Hood River, but it could use a bit of practice.

Draught. Poured orange with thin scummy white head. moderate lacing. Aroma was of a hop bomb. Flavour didn’t live up to the aroma. Pleasant but not the overbearing performance one would expect. But this wis my first experience with a nitro cask IPA

On tap during Hopfest at Brouwer’s. Pours a pale orange with a thin creamy head and lots of lace. Aromas of florals, yeast, and citrus. Tastier than I anticipated, with spicy notes, citrus and florals.
