Brewmaster’s Reserve 2007

9/23/2007: Full Sail Nugget Special Red Ale pours a dark, mostly clear amber color. It has a frothy tan head that leaves some slight lacing. The aroma has a distinct caramel maltiness with some hops. The malty flavor has caramel, hints of fruit/apple(?), and hints of chocolate/roasted malt. This medium-bodied beer is smooth on the palate. This is a pretty hoppy amber, that is balanced, but it isn’t anything special...

22 oz bottle (Alc. 6.5% by Vol.) from Haggen Food & Pharmacy in Bellingham, Washington. Rating #82 for this beer...

Tasted 8/13/07. 22oz bomber. Clear and ruby. Finger width of beige head. Maple plummy nose. Cinnamon and sugary bready aromas. Medium bodied with bready caramel flavors. Dry palate. Toasty bready flavors. Wonderful red! Mild fruity bitterness. Mild coffee acidity. Caramel and sugary malts. Medium hoppiness. Touch rye. Nice piney hop finish marries well with the mild bitter malt roast. Well done!

22oz bottle - Pours a clear, deep ruby red color with medium sized tan head that dissipates rather quickly to leave a bit of lacing. Aroma has fair amount of creamy caramel, toasted hazelnuts, vanilla, along with a touch of citrusy hops. Flavor is a bit fruity/citrusy, with caramel, mild biscuit notes, bit of orange and pear, faint citrusy hops, with a slightly sweet but balanced finish. A decent brew, wouldn’t mind having again, but wouldn’t go out of my way to seek it out either.

A nice amber that is easy to finish the whole 22oz. red hue, not much head, but balanced very well with hops. Would to see this with more alc. and aged in bourbon barrels!

Courtesy boboski. Dark reddish amber body. No head, just a thin film with a small rim at the edges. Aroma was of caramel malts, brown sugar, and a hint of black cherry. Very appealing. Flavor starts with that same caramelized maltiness, but soft resinous hops soon join the party, adding balance. Smooth, medium body. Soft finish with a hint of bourbon in the aftertaste. Nice brew.

Pours a clear, crimson tinted amber. Orange hues at the edges. A thin, off-white head dissipates slowly but fully. The aroma is of citric hops, mellow and agreeable. Very light toast is also noted, along with low but noticeable alcohol, caramel, light spice and vanilla bean. The flavor is very nice, also quite soft. Caramel malt leads the charge, followed immediately by hops and more soft spices. Finishes lightly sweet, then mildly drying, bitterness lingering briefly. The mouthfeel is crisp, soft, mildly carbonated and smooth. Tasty, though not very memorable.

650 ml bottle from Bottle Barn, santa rosa. I’ve cleansed my tongue with fire after that nasty ass Drakes’ beer! Agh! Reddish amber color with a fizzy white head. Caramel and citrus hoppy aroma. Sweet malty backbone and a bigger bitter bite than I was expecting. Not bad at all.
