Big caramel malty flavor, some hops, cinnamon and sweetness. The taste is definitely hoppy with a huge, caramel malt flavor. with a slight bitterness mostly the way through. There is a little mild tartness to it that came through, which wasnt the best feature of this brew, but wasnt enough to make it bad. Decent. OldMrCrow (1193), Seattle, Washington, USA

Pours a nice red with a modest hop aroma and flavor and reasonable share of caramel; while it is enjoyable enough, the overall impression is too close to a watered-down Lagunitas brew to be make much of an impression on me. IrishBoy (2713), Bakersfield, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 2, 2007 Bottle from Bottle Barn; Nose of caramel, vanilla, and grain; Copper-red with a big beige head, that thickly laces the glass; flavor of caramel, hop bitterness, and light spices; body and falvor kind of watery, finish is bitter. Decent amber but watery and I was hoping for better. luvcasks (178), USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 22, 2008 Mostly amber with some reddish highlights and a thin dissipative tan head
Nose of caramel. berry like fruit notes.
Palate: Slight thin bodied with longish dry and earthy finish
Flavor: Short malt note with muddied base malt and some candy/caramel notes - followed by fruity notes (berries, some caramelized apple) with just enough earthy hop flavor.
Overall: While a little thin bodied, a really nicely done amber with nice residual sweetness. For a brew master’s reserve - nothing outstanding and I am not sure if it is a "RED" ale. A little more hop-flavor (not just ) greenhorn1 (460), Mission Viejo, California, USA

Aroma is of roasted malt and yeast. Flavor is dominated by roasty malt and it has an acidic finish. I can also detect some pine resin and mild fruitiness. Nice bitter finish, but a bit light in the mouth. Not my favorite style, but it’s OK. arrogantb (701), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 8, 2009 Red-amber in color with a tan head. This almost looks like a brown ale. The smell is faint. The taste is unoffensive and kind of bland, some bitterness. I was hoping for something like Nugget Nectar (greatest “amber” ale ever) or the Lagunitas Lucky 13 red ale. Full Sail is kind of hit or miss in my book but the hits keep me coming back. I am still looking forward to the next brewmaster reserve series.

Nose was caramel malts with some light grassy hops. Mouthfeel light and a bit thin. Flavor was malts and hops, with a little fruit. Not much finish. A drinkable but undistinguished amber; biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA

Quite tart and a little chalky. Toffee and mild hop flavor. A bit thin in body. Good balancing bitterness. I assume the prominent hop in this ale is Nugget.
