hellbilly (865), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Jul 13, 2008 clear body. pale copper color with a one inch tall off white head. good retention and lacing. juicy citrus aroma with some caramel-y malt, pepper, earth, wood and a bit of dry grass. there’s a bitterness that carries throughout the flavor... twiggy, generic hops, light pine, citrus pith, floral hops and malty grain (but not sweet). hoppy, dry, moderately bitter finish. medium body. mellow mouth feel is a bit parching. extra points for the dry palate but it’s still generic.
kenb (932), Oregon, USA Sep 3, 2008 22 oz bottle via Fred M. Pours a hazy amber with a huge beige head that sticks around for several minutes. Nose is divine....floral and citrusy..orange, grapefruit, lemon.....very nice! Tastes almost like it smells but with a little soapiness and a serious grapefruit/orange rind kick that leaves a bit of astringency in the dry finish and metallic aftertaste. Damn it smells and looks good though, if only it tasted as good as it smells. Still, its a fairly good IPA. Body is medium, carbonation is medium. cathcacr (515), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 2, 2008 Well-balanced IPA with highly bitter elements countered with sweet nectary/honey ones. Slightly hazy golden appearance with ample headage. Distractingly off-putting is the flat, metallic finish. Ernest (4229), Boulder, Colorado, USA Sep 2, 2008 Bottle.
Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing.
Body is clear medium amber.
Aroma is lightly malty (grain, caramel), lightly to moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin), lightly to moderately yeasty (dough, basement).
Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Dull and yeasty. Surprisingly little (and boring) hop character in the nose, and a very abrasive (both citric and bitter) mouth experience. General_Gao (2509), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Sep 1, 2008 Thanks to pepsican for bringing this bottle to iowaherkeye’s ’farewell to Iowa’ tasting. Poured a clear medium orange color with an off white head. Smelled of caramel, citrus (especially orange), and sweet cream. Medium bodied and dry-ish with moderate bitterness. Tasted of toasted bread, earthy tree bark, grapefruit, and some delicate spices. Tasty. pepsican (727), the beer wastelands of, Iowa, USA Aug 31, 2008 Thanks to JW77(i think) for this guy! Amber pour with a nice sized white head. Aroma is pine and caramel. Flavored followed the same path with some orange peel as well. Bitter finish, nice and refreshing.
