Bottle shared with the wife - Pours with a big, creamy off-white head atop a deep copper pour. Aroma is sweet, bready malt with nicely balanced citrus hops, lemon, booze, and a little milkiness. The taste is different, with some caramel malt initially, then a transition into some real deep and intense grassy hops that bite in the back of the mouth. It’s like some of the real bitter weeds I pull out of my garden--not appetizing. Way too astringent--goes past grapefruit and into something altogether different. Too bad...this was showing some promise until I tasted it.

[ Trade by BDR ]. Clear medium to dark orange color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, grapefruit, orange. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090714]

Rich full head on dark amber. Woody hop nose. Woody spicy hop flavour. Interesting zingy hop notes.

Hazy golden beer, with a thick, soapy lace - aroma of dry, crackery malts, herbal, minty character, earthy hops, kafir lime leaves - soft carbonation, full in the mouth - dry, biscuity malts pair well with potent, barky, quinine-ish bitterness - this bitterness lingers long into the finish - the malt profile seems more british than american, but I can’t really complain - this is a fairly solid ipa - you’ve gotta like your ipas on the dryer side, though

A bargain for the price. Solid DIPA but nothing critically outstanding. It is half the price of the others so worth stocking up on. Pours nice, decent body, decent finish. Very pleasurable beer.

This is about the 4th time I’ve had Slipknot and each time it’s very enjoyable but seems to be missing something to really push it into the upper echelon’s of IIPA’s for me. Don’t know if it needs more hops, or more body but it lacks something. STILL, very easy to enjoy and I always grab a few bombers when I run accross them.

This bottle, the beer pours out a dark, golden yellow/light amber color with a sizeable white head with nice retention. Aroma starts out with a noticeable malt profile, caramel and iced tea notes and then the hops show up and then make you notice. Citrusy, orangey hops with a showing of pine too. Flavor has some light toasted malt notes, definitely piney with light caramel showing up. It definitely showcases the hops, but they aren’t overpowering like a good IIPA should be. It’s balanced, which is good but I do like my IIPA’s to be an avalance of hoppy goodness.

22 oz. bottle. 2009. Pours a nice white head of good duration, over a dark golden (SRM 15) clear body.....nose very heavy with citrus, some pine, bit of toffee....taste is mild toffee malts to start, then heavy grapefruit, mild pine bitterness....mouth feel is medium, carbonation medium. This is a pleasant somewhat higher hopped IPA. It is more flavor and odor than the typical IPA, but bitterness is not really increased by as much. ABV is kind of low. This is a good, but not great Imperial/Double.

Brewmsters Reserve 2009 Poured light copper with a medium o/w head. Aroma is peppery herbal hop, some citrus and a medium caramel sweetness. Flavour is strong buy not very sweet malt, some burnt sugar tones and an earthy bitterness. Some lingering pith like less pleasant bitterness in the finish.
