Commercial Description:
This beer is brewed in the aggressive IPA style. Its father was the popular Sunspot. Lots of hops and a pleasure to drink. Watch that son!

22oz bottle: Pours to a clear, copper colored body with a large dark eggshell colored head. The aroma shows some nice, bright & fresh hops. I get notes of grapefruit, bitter citrus, some hints of sweet sugary malt, then finishes with some lighter flowery hop scents. The taste hits with hop bitterness, but there’s a bit of malt sweetness that sneaks in before the hop flavors hit. The hops then hit with flavors of ripe grapefruit, bitter lemon rind, and flowery bitter hop cones. All along there’s this light malt sweetness in the background that nicely matches the bitter hops. Light-medium bodied, light-medium carbonation, finishes with bitter flavors of hops. A nice IPA all around with a great balance (at least what one could expect for the style) between the malt and hops here.

Pours with a slightly cloudy copper body topped by a thick, off-whtie head with some lacing. It’s bitter and piney from the hops with a slight medicinal note and am undeerlying malt note. Medium bodied, smooth and a touch dry.

Pours a fairly hazy copper/orange color. Head is medium statured, tan with very good retention and some stringy sticky lace too boot. Nose is lightly fruity a touch of tea and malt. Body is medium with a prickly carbonation. Fairly dry crystal malts, light citrus notes, light toastiness, somewhat astringent. Dry, lightly fruity finish with an assertive hop bite. Bomber courtesy of sdbruboy. Thanks Cliff!!

22oz bottle from 11026. Clear honey amber colored body with a patchy, sticky, clingy white head, leaving foam-lace rings stratified on the sides of the glass. Nose has a properly quiet malt base - some pils, some biscuity malts, a lighty doughy/bready touch of yeast (and yogurt), and the hops are wonderfully starchy, resinous, moderately sharp and tingly - exactly the kind of hop and malt interaction I like in IPA. And of course the Full Sail house character shows up once again, and I absolutely love it. Flavorwise it’s tangy and moderately sharp honey and pine cones up front, more of the doughy house yeast, some lighter lemon and honey, and a clean, quiet malt base that works really well. The more I drink this the more I like it. Reminds me of fresh Bridgeport IPA - quiet and mellow but simple, clean and delicious.

A very nice, refreshingly hoppy IPA that for some reason doesn’t get much attention in the circle of beer geeks. I particularly enjoyed the incredibly intense juicy citrus hop aroma. Fresh orange juice, grapefruits and lemons are the most pronounced. There’s also a secondary perfumy hop character as well. Very nice nose. Appearance is a darker orange color, with a nice fluffy white head. Flavors are citrusy hops, sweet malts, with a fading spicy hop character that I wish was a bit more prominent. Better as it warms, the spiciness does come out more. Overall, this is very tasty IPA. Maybe if it was sold in 12 oz bottles, it’d be a little more....alluring to buy. But as it’s sold only in 22oz bottles, some might get a bit put-off.

Pour is copper orange with a sudsy head. Aroma is perfumy with floral and apricot scents. Flavor is bitter with some hops and biscuit malts. Drinkable, but not my favorite kind of hops. This has a peppery finish. Slightly grows on me as I drink more, which prompted me to raise the overall score from 13 to 14.
