EithCubes (2036), Indiana, USA Jul 3, 2009 Bomber from 2008 with a 47 on the cap under the foil. Big bourbon nose with vanilla and oak over chocolate. Very light alcohol (not harsh or boozy) and berry with a hint of coconut milk. This aroma is heavenly, one of the few 10/10’s I’ll ever give. Deep dark brown-black pour with a creamy dark brown head. Taste is very dry, sweet only around the teeth, with gentle roast and firm whiskey notes. Lightly ashy aftertaste but very smooth, alcohol warms without burning, wood and figs on deep chocolate and lessened vanilla bean. Medium body is viscous but not fat, might have some oaten slickness in there but the pct of grist would have to be low. Easily my favorite barrel-aged beer, pervasive tenderness with unremitting waves of complex flavor. jonno (357), Japan Jun 29, 2009 Wow. What a nose. Pure boubon goodness. This is a big beer, which surprised me a little, as the body was a little thin (perhaps due to the aging?). Very malty and a pure sipper, but what a treat. Thanks TimE!! beerbill (1741), Laurel, New York, USA Jun 26, 2009 Big thanks to jake65 for sending this one in a trade. 22 oz. bottle. Pours black with a thin-moderate brown head that quickly dissipated and was gone after a couple of sips. Very pleasant aroma of bourbon, vanilla, and caramel along with some alcohol vapors. I was surprised when I took my first sip at how weak the flavor was compared to the aroma. The same bourbon, vanilla and caramel are present, but taste watered down. Brash alcohol heat towards the finish. Thin, watery body. This one started out very nicely, but unfortunately ended up a bit disappointing. ucusty (1664), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jun 15, 2009 Thanks to Emacgee for sharing this one! Jet black pour with frothy tan head and spotty lace. Chocolate and bourbon on the nose. Bittersweet flavor with big roasty notes underlined with subtle hints of bourbon, vanilla, and fig yobdoog (1021), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Jun 11, 2009 Nice. Super dark and creamy. Viscous with legs. Bourbon, vanilla, oak, strong with lots of alcohol present. Sweet and roasty. A bit warming and not that smooth. SudsMcDuff (1571), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Jun 10, 2009 chocolate and bourbon are the guys running the show, but bourbon is the husband, and he puts his foot down and takes the belt off .. . Pours a jet brown/black, has a pretty big whipped coffee coloured head, lacing is quality for such a high abv brew .. . bourbon is the first thing to hit in the nose and taste, some chocolate and tar also .. . very smooth and easy to drink but the bourbon with make it a sipper, some light heat, but just enough, a year or 6 months would do this brew nicely! .. . i am liking a hell of alot this i think the BA imperial stout was alot smoother .. . if you like imperial porters, and like bourbon aged beers, this might do you just right .. . Stuart Holden is a fuckin badass, hou dynamo 1 chivas 0 at the half .. . j12601 (624), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Jun 6, 2009 Bottle at PilsnerPeter’s Spring Gathering. Pours a dark black with a thick tan head. Bourbon, wood, and vanilla on the nose. Thin roast character backed up by light plums. Light roast finish. LilBeerDoctor (1291), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 4, 2009 Bottle at PPRBSG09. Pours a dark brown. Aroma is very boozy. Flavor is completely obscured by bourbon. Slightly worse than the BA Imperial Stout, but it hardly matters because I really did not like this beer.
