pantani (1894), Salinas, California, USA Jul 2, 2008 Black with a thin tan head. Aroma is heavy bourbon, chocolate, oak, alcohol, light caramel. Taste is heavy bourbon which overshadows the chocolate sweetness, and roastiness of the beer, alcohol show mildly. Too much bourbon. matt7215 (942), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Jul 1, 2008 bomber shared with sammy and hyde. my bottle from a trade with douglas88. pours black with a nice tan head. light penetrated this one to leave the brew looking only dark brown in the glass. big bouron nose and top of porter notes. sweet vanilla boubon flavours mixed with a very well made porter. chocolate and caramel with some dark fruit. good stuff but a bit rough and bossy. thanks for the bottle doug! TheEpeeist (1429), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 17, 2008 22 oz bottle, 2008. Some coaxing produces a small tan head atop dark brown. Nose is musty dark roast and fig. Brief creaminess that turns to alcohol with a tang. After the initial blast of bourbon, coffee and dark chocolate emerge. Dry finish with bitter licorice and peanut. Too much barrel overwhelms the base beer. inkubus27 (237), Highland, Indiana, USA Jun 9, 2008 I love anything Full Sail does, so I’m super biased when it comes to rating their beers. But honestly this particular beer reminded me very very much of GI Bourbon County Stout. Not quite as strong, thick, and had a bit less of a bourbon aroma, but all together it was a very good example of a bourbon aged porter/stout. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Jun 8, 2008 Noogfest ’08. The bodyw as perfectly black with a khaki head. I could hardly detect the barrel aging. The aroma was strong malt and chocolate. There was also some roasted coffee. The taste was coffee and chocolate. There was also some roast and green beans. Decent. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jun 8, 2008 Courtesy of CigarCityBrew. Pours deep dark brown with mocha head. The aroma is inviting to pretty much irresistible. I get rich deep maltiness, chocolate, sweet molasses and some faint burnt malts. There’s also equal amounts of wood and bourbon notes that don’t cover up and hide the tasty base beer. The taste has way more bourbon and wood barrel notes in it than the nose led onto. I pretty much only taste bourbon with just faint malt and molasses sweetness out deep into the background. It grows on me though where the base goodness does start to peer through more and more as the ounces are consumed. tronraner (1905), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Jun 7, 2008 At Noogfest Four-O. Pours blackish mahogany with beige head. The aroma is chocolate and bourbon, with some vanilla. Flavor is chocolate, alcohol, bourbon, vanilla, and nut shells. The aftertaste has an ashy quality. Pretty good stuff. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA Jun 4, 2008 6-1-08 bottle shared at tasting
Big black color with a tan watery head. Smell is roasted malt, honey, caramel, cinnamon and bourbon. Flavor is similar but a hint more bourbon overwhelms the other aspects and still manages to have a fairly mild flavor overall. Mouthfeel is thin and a touch on the watery side.
