Bottle, thanks to Kan. Shared with Katie, this one shows off the barrel quite nicely. Black center pour with clearer edges and a temporary bubbly beige head. The nose has a strong bourbon tone that is nearly overpowering, but is also well complemented by notes of smoke, vanilla, molasses and brown sugars. Chocolate and roasted malt tones dominate the flavor base, which is immediately followed up by the bourbon and oak. The robust oak wood character is one of my favorites about these types of brew. Finishes syrupy and no signs of oxidation and medium carbonation.

Luscious chocolate nose, with hints of vanilla, oak a light bit of bourbon and cocoa. Rich creamy chocolate bar palate, with nuggets of toffee and nougat. This is like drinking a liquid candy bar. Loads of dark chocolate, without being overpowering, a bit of heat from the alcohol that has a bit of soda syrup sweetness. Delicious, if only all porters could be this good.

22oz bottle (trade with 5000, thanks André!) Pours pitch black, capped with a moderate sized brown head. Beautiful aroma; notes of vanilla, toffee, cocoa, plum, wood, almonds and roasted malt. Chocolate malt flavor, with oak, coffee, bourbon, and ash. Ash is a bit strong for my palate. Substantial warming alcohol in the finish.

Bottle courtesy Degarth. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, coffee, and oak. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a mild to moderate amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. Very good.

Slightly hazy dark brown. Rich, thick aroma - lots of toffee, bourbon, wood, coffee, nuts, all in balance. Rich, chewy toffee palate. Decadent and sublimely balanced. Full Sail has a certain restraint in their beers that I feel really lends itself to things like barrel-aging.

From the same bottle Holdenn brought to the FS pre-DLD party! Warm and inviting smell, deep brown color, a tinge of light. Very smooth taste of dark malts, fruit leather. Low in roasties to keep the ale side of this to the fore. I couldn’t pick out much from the barrel besides a big warming alcohol, but I’m well into several tasters when this came up.
