BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA May 22, 2008 Luscious chocolate nose, with hints of vanilla, oak a light bit of bourbon and cocoa. Rich creamy chocolate bar palate, with nuggets of toffee and nougat. This is like drinking a liquid candy bar. Loads of dark chocolate, without being overpowering, a bit of heat from the alcohol that has a bit of soda syrup sweetness. Delicious, if only all porters could be this good. kkearn (994), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 21, 2008 22oz bottle (trade with 5000, thanks André!) Pours pitch black, capped with a moderate sized brown head. Beautiful aroma; notes of vanilla, toffee, cocoa, plum, wood, almonds and roasted malt. Chocolate malt flavor, with oak, coffee, bourbon, and ash. Ash is a bit strong for my palate. Substantial warming alcohol in the finish. waolsen (1220), Littleton, Colorado, USA May 18, 2008 2008 bottle. midnight black with thin frothy mocha colored head. amazing bourbon in aroma along with some dark fruits, dark chocolate, coffee, strong vaniilla and aged oak. very smooth. coffee and oak mix with the great bourbon flavor. oak and chocolate. dark fruits bring a little tartness. Another great barrel aged brew from Full Sail. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA May 18, 2008 Bottle courtesy Degarth. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, coffee, and oak. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a mild to moderate amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. Very good. unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA May 10, 2008 22oz bottle. Aroma of tar, tobacco. Flavor of a bag of chocolate chips. Bold. Nice roast flavor. Medium bodied. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam May 7, 2008 Slightly hazy dark brown. Rich, thick aroma - lots of toffee, bourbon, wood, coffee, nuts, all in balance. Rich, chewy toffee palate. Decadent and sublimely balanced. Full Sail has a certain restraint in their beers that I feel really lends itself to things like barrel-aging. DrnkMcDermott (1831), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA May 6, 2008 From the same bottle Holdenn brought to the FS pre-DLD party! Warm and inviting smell, deep brown color, a tinge of light. Very smooth taste of dark malts, fruit leather. Low in roasties to keep the ale side of this to the fore. I couldn’t pick out much from the barrel besides a big warming alcohol, but I’m well into several tasters when this came up. t4h2c0 (80), seattle, Washington, USA May 5, 2008 Damn this beer is smooth for a bourbon aged porter. Pours dark as night with a small amount of off white head. Slight burbon notes come thrugh in the after tastes. Had it on cask the other night and I thought it was smooth before, god damn this is buy far one of the best cask beers i have ever had, smooth as fuck with an explosion of awesome sweet roasty boozy flavors!!!!!!
