Thanks a ton, Matt! This was one of the highlights of the night, for me. It pours black with a creamy, tan head that diminishes to a ring around the edge of the glass; nice legs. On the nose are: bourbon, vanilla, dark roasted malt and light chocolate. Medium to full-bodied and creamy, it is silky-soft with a dry roasted finish. The flavor is of bourbon, light vanilla, wood, chocolate and dark malt. This is one tasty and very satisfying brew. If you can get your hands on a bottle, don’t hesitate to do so. notalush (2647), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 16, 2008 Shared by Dickinson beer (thanks, Paul!) - dark brown beer, amber around the edges - light oak, bourbon, and chocolate malt in the aroma, with light notes of roast, spices, and vanilla - soft carbonation - oak and vanilla are prominent, but the bourbon is quite mild - a bit of spicy alcohol, and some notes of tobacco and slightly burnt wood - quite subdued for a BA beer, which makes it quite enjoyable. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 16, 2008 Bottle shared by dickensonbeer. Dark black beer with a thick brown head. Aroma is quite nice. Sweet and very rich. Loaded with a light salty sweetness, dark chocolate with a soft charry roastiness on the back. There is a bit of caramel sweetness in back and some subtle bourbony character. It’s good, but a bit understated really. golubj (1286), Sunnyvale, California, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 14, 2008 On tap at The Front Door Boise. Pours out a almost black topped with a small tan head. A big bourbon aroma and tast. I also picked up some Almond Joy on this. You know Coconuts, vanilla, and chocolate. It still is pretty hot. I have a few bottles to age. I know the BA Black Gold aged very well I hope this turns out to be the same.
