Thanks to RiversideAK for this one and to SuzyGreenberg for a back up bottle! Black pour, tall lasting mocha head. Complex aroma, bourbon, coffee, dark chocolate. The flavor follows the aroma. Nice one!

Bourbon aroma. Too much bourbon with burnt malt. Medium palate. I don’t like the overwhelming bourbon in this beer at all. It is nearly undrinkable.

Thanks to DA for sharing this bottle at the RBSG Grand Tasting. Pours black with a dark tan head. Little lacing. Roasty cocoa aroma along with some smokiness. Flavors of roasty coffee and hot bourbon. Oaky vanilla and a warming finish. Smooth and full mouthfeel.

Bomber poured a translucent dark brown with a lasting brown head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, vanilla, cocao nibs and a hint of licorice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bourbon, oak, vanilla, bitter chocolate and light carmel with a smooth lingering bourbon finish.

A Mes rate: Bottle supped in the Harlequin in Sheffield thanks to Craig.
Black body with a good beige head. Rather a lot of ethanol in the aroma along with some cheesy funk and delicate bourbon. Glorious flavour full of vanilla and coconut from the barrel but thankfully the bourbon is not over done at all. Glorious lick of cuddly alcohol in the finish. Lip smacking creamy yet dry palate. Jolly good beer.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle. Oily brown-black. Syrupy bourbon and fat chocolate malt aroma of moist german chocolate cake, frosted with toasted coconut and burnt caramel. Simplistic, in decadence. Satisfying. Flavor less so. Maple syrup and cloying sweet buttery bourbon notes of milky honey and coconut brittle. And a bit of somewhat lactic tart-sweetness of oak, alongside a black malt soap. Briefly dry. Bitter nutty maltiness and thin cardboardy roastiness predominate toward the finish with a blank expression. Medium body softly carbonated and full of juicy roasts, though it gets pretty medicinally astringent at the end. Thoroughly boring and fairly pleasant; too much bourbon and too much char. Thanks Andy!

Bottle opened at the Harlequin, Sheffield, on the RateBeer Valley of Beer Crawl ’08. Black with a small beige head. Sweet dark fruit aroma. A little bit too much fizz, but a wonderful sweet, ashy taste and a mid bitter finish. Many thanks to the kind purveyor of this delectable beer.

(bottle, thanks Sparky27!) Pours dark brown with a tan head. As Stine noted, this beer smells like german chocolate cake, with a lot of coconut present along with some oak and light anise as well. The smell is very nice. The taste was pretty disappointing though, with a ton of overly roasted malt that contributed a charred and astringent character to the flavor. These charred flavors dominated any hints of bourbon or chocolate that should be present. The finish was also heavily roasted, and the mouthfeel was thin to medium.
