Bottle.
Head is initially small, frothy, brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is black (non-opaque, flashlight tested).
Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, dark chocolate, caramel), with notes of bourbon, alcohol, raw wood, vanilla, peanut butter.
Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, syrupy/creamy texture, lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic, lightly to moderately astringent.
Very boozy/burning...seems stronger than it is, which is odd considering the viscosity and sweetness is pretty high. Usually that hides the alcohol, but not so much here. Astringency is rough too, another mark against the mouthfeel. A bit too much bourbon/alcohol and raw wood in the nose for my tastes, but it’s pleasant otherwise. Kind of simple and rough, but if you’ve got a bourbon fetish I could see you liking it well enough.

Sep 29, 2008 22 oz. bottle, courtesy of Beerlando. 2008 vintage. Dark black color with a small, light tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, soothing vanilla, and tons of whisky. Thin mouthfeel, but not watery. Flavor is a treat. While it is definitely boozy, the other notes are still allowed to shine. As with the aroma, notes of vanilla, chocolate, oak, and some smokiness. Finish is warming alcohol and coffee notes. Very tasty beer.

Sep 26, 2008 Bomber from JB175. Thanks Jason! Pours black with ruby around the edges and a little foam around the edges. Smell is coffee beans, slight chocolate, and a lot of harsh oakiness. Flavor is similar with a huge hit of stale coffee, creamy cocoa and some astringent oak. Bourbon flavor was nice though. It left some stinging alcohol on the palate. Sep 25, 2008 Bonus Bomber from OldMr.Crow. Full Sail and me once got along but we don’t anymore. So I’m curious about how good this might actually be. Pours black with a light brown head. Nose is oaky with bourbon. Taste is sweet and chocolaty and overall decent.

Sep 22, 2008 Bottles thanks to Beerlando and Sparky27 = thanks! Darkish pour with a thick aroma of bourbon, vanilla, and raisins. Very sweet and syrupy with lots of bourbon, dark fruit, vanilla, and some chocolate. Not bad, but should have been better - just a bit messy.
