Pours a jet brown/black, has a pretty big whipped coffee coloured head, lacing is quality for such a high abv brew .. . bourbon is the first thing to hit in the nose and taste, some chocolate and tar also .. . very smooth and easy to drink but the bourbon with make it a sipper, some light heat, but just enough, a year or 6 months would do this brew nicely! .. . i am liking a hell of alot this i think the BA imperial stout was alot smoother .. . if you like imperial porters, and like bourbon aged beers, this might do you just right .. . | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 8, 2008 22 oz. bottle courtesy of mreusch who gave the KC crew this bottle to sample, even though he was unable to make the csbosox tasting on 3/7/08. Very cool of you Matt, thanks. Pour is black with some brown on the edges. Head is khaki and fades fast. Aroma of oak barrel and burnt roastiness. Some heat comes through on the nose. Taste is soft, the wood, and roasted coffee porter elements soften and meld in a nice mix / blend. The wood was a nice complement to this beer. Really nice one. The heat only appeared slightly in the after taste. BuckeyeBoy (1683), Boise, Idaho, USA

A big bourbon aroma and tast. I also picked up some Almond Joy on this. You know Coconuts, vanilla, and chocolate. It still is pretty hot. I have a few bottles to age. I know the BA Black Gold aged very well I hope this turns out to be the same. Odeed (1679), Bakersfield, California, USA

Pours a deep black with hints of red, and with a medium beige head. The aroma is almost totally bourbon. The flavor is also up front and in your face bourbon. A really noticeable alcohol presence. You give it awhile and there is also some roasted malt, some vanilla, and some smoke. A really nice beer, give it some time and it will be great. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA

Darkish pour with a thick aroma of bourbon, vanilla, and raisins. Very sweet and syrupy with lots of bourbon, dark fruit, vanilla, and some chocolate. Not bad, but should have been better - just a bit messy. wetherel (1641), Encinitas, California, USA

Wow, what a real treat. Huge thanks Kan! Some bourbon in the aroma/taste. Mellowed to perfection from the barrel aging. Leans to the sweet side (which I like). Delicious. Heavy body. Microfoam head. Malty aroma. Again, very delicious. Yum.
