| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 29, 2008 Bomber. Pours an opaque coffee-like black with a minimal tan head. Not much carbonation and splotchy lacing. Nose is oak, bourbon and alcohol. Palate is bourbon, coffee and dark chocolate. Thinner mouth feel than I expected, but has a great Irish coffee aftertaste that fades into oak accents. This isn’t your father’s porter – it’s definitely a slooooow sipper and warming like a fine cognac. IndianaRed (1555), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 12, 2008 Bottle pours a deep black with a rich tan head. Big sweet bourbon slightly smokey aroma. Some vanilla and amaretto like its Imperial Stout Black Gold. Slightly dweet moderate roasted flavors. A little of the thinner porter palate but silky and smooth. Softly carbonated. Nice dark woody trailer, liike how I imagine a Black Walnut toothpick wood be. Some of the bourbon barrel comes through in the flavor as well, but is subtle and complimentary.
Exquisite. Thanks Jordan for sharing one of the 60 bottle to be distributed in the area. hellbilly (1532), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Apr 17, 2008 very dark brown color with ruby at the edges it’s topped by a khaki head that lasts as a ring of foam. initial aroma of brownies or chocolate bread followed by vanilla, savory oak, prunes, port wine, wet grass, earth, slate and the perfect amount of sweet bourbon. the bourbon is soft and incredibly well integrated into the flavor without over powering everything else... super chocolatey notes are followed by vanilla, oak, dark grains and bourbon spiciness. nice ashy finish and bitter cocoa aftertaste. light to medium bodied with a disappointingly watery mouth feel. you’d think with the ABV% and barrel age that it would be richer?... but the consistency does make it incredibly easy to drink LilBeerDoctor (1505), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 4, 2009 Bottle at PPRBSG09. Pours a dark brown. Aroma is very boozy. Flavor is completely obscured by bourbon. Slightly worse than the BA Imperial Stout, but it hardly matters because I really did not like this beer.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 17, 2008 22 oz bottle, 2008. Some coaxing produces a small tan head atop dark brown. Nose is musty dark roast and fig. Brief creaminess that turns to alcohol with a tang. After the initial blast of bourbon, coffee and dark chocolate emerge. Dry finish with bitter licorice and peanut. Too much barrel overwhelms the base beer. SamGamgee (1455), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 22, 2009 22oz bottle thanks to triplethreat. Black with a tan head. Subtle bourbon, sweet malt, and light coffee in the aroma. The flavor is dry cocoa, dark-roast coffee and mellow bourbon. Nice mocha porter thing going on with just a touch of barrel compliment. Medium-full body, medium carbonation, and a modest alcohol bite. Lower on the bourbon with more porter character showing, but has a nice balance. yobdoog (1447), Woodridge NY, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 11, 2009 Nice. Super dark and creamy. Viscous with legs. Bourbon, vanilla, oak, strong with lots of alcohol present. Sweet and roasty. A bit warming and not that smooth. GreatLibations (1444), Last Supper, Arizona, USA
| 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Feb 25, 2008 Pours thick and next to black w/ a solid two finger head. Superb head retention reducing to a full canopy and a fluffy ring. Aromas of earth, chocolate, vanilla bean, wet rocks, and roasted chestnuts. Full, thick, and viscous nectar w/ good carbonation that produces a milky, creamy texture. Massive roasted malts. Chunky chewy black chocolate smothered in Kentucky Bourbon. This thing kicks up a distinctly defined Bourbon flavor that rushes forward right behind the chocolate. I’ve had this kind of stuff before and I have to tell you, this is the frst to exhibit true flavor from the barrel. Fresh evergreen, toasted waffers, just mildly sweet. The finish is long and satsfying like a steak and egg burrito in the morning. Give me another mam’!
