bottle shared at the Pizza Port Bottle Shop....poured al most black with reddish brown hues towards the edges. topped off with a nice thick tan head.... enticing aroma of bourbon (but not too much so), chocolate, molasses, and was generally came together really well. the barrel-aging did not totally overwhelm the other qualities in the nose.... a very smooth flavor, bourbon and strong chocolate notes, a little boozy, and not too full of a body.....i might like this one just a little more than my score indicates but everyone should try this at some point.

Bottle thanks to BMan1113VR. Pours a dark glass coating dark brown color with a medium brown colored head. Nose is wood smoke, vanilla, figs, and connecticut broad leaf tobacco wrapper from a cigar (sort of earth and chocolately). Taste is chocolate creme, cocoa nibs, milk chocolate, wet wood, and a delicious balsamic vinegar and confit of fig spread I recently had. Mouthfeel is soft yet syrupy, with a lengthy finish that is slightly alcoholic.

Bottle at PilsnerPeter’s Spring Gathering. Pours a dark black with a thick tan head. Bourbon, wood, and vanilla on the nose. Thin roast character backed up by light plums. Light roast finish.

Thanks Holdenn for sharing this at FS pre-DLD party. Opaque black with small burnt beige head. Aroma is dark roasted malt with some fruity sweetness and purple fruit. Sweet, roasted malt, fruit, bourbon and alc is pretty subdued. Medium, watery body. NIce in flavor and aroma but a little more body would be nice. Thanks for being so generous Matt!

Pours a dark dark brown with an off white head. Aroma was mainly bourbon and burnt coffee. Flavor was more coffeeish like a stout than the usual roastiness of a porter. The bourbon stands out way too strong here.

Shared, thanks to dickinsonbeer. Black pour with small brown head. Aroma is roasted chocolate malt and some caramel malt, some bourbon. The flavor is burnt malt, bitter chocolate, roasted bitterness, and alcohol.

Thanks to a generous soul for sending this in a trade. I could not wait any longer to crack it open, especially with the memory of other top notch Full Sail releases etched in my mind. This one did not disappoint; I wish it were not retired.

Aroma / Appearance - The deep black body was sticky with a sheen of lacing and head the color of semitransparent stained cedar. The bourbon aspect is strong but balanced against the chocolate, licorice, and smoke. Extremely focused with a purpose it is very inviting.

Flavor / Palate - The chewy mouthfeel requires some contemplation. Vanilla, bourbon, licorice, and a lingering warmth mark an very well done and thought out experience. The smoky chocolate finish lingers in the throat urging another sip until there is nothing left.

2008 bottle. midnight black with thin frothy mocha colored head. amazing bourbon in aroma along with some dark fruits, dark chocolate, coffee, strong vaniilla and aged oak. very smooth. coffee and oak mix with the great bourbon flavor. oak and chocolate. dark fruits bring a little tartness. Another great barrel aged brew from Full Sail.
