Black pour, medium brown head. Aroma is oak and bourbon. Flavor is fudge, bourbon, lots of woody to this, some vanilla. Very dominated by the wood but is very chocolatey and the touch of bourbon is all balanced nicely. Some smoke in the background and even a dash of raisens. Nicely done.

Bottle courtesy Degarth. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, coffee, and oak. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a mild to moderate amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. Very good.

Merritt Island Throwdown ’08: Bottle, courtesy dragonstout. Pours a big dark brown, with red highlights. A thin braid of lacing remains on the glass following the drainage of the beer. Chocolate aroma is nice, with caramel and cotton candy. Some brown sugar, too. Flavor is pure chocolate, and delicious. Rich cocoa, with some slight caramel. Medium-bodied, nice aftertaste of vanilla. Easy to drink, and alcohol is fairly well hidden.

Big black color with a tan watery head. Smell is roasted malt, honey, caramel, cinnamon and bourbon. Flavor is similar but a hint more bourbon overwhelms the other aspects and still manages to have a fairly mild flavor overall. Mouthfeel is thin and a touch on the watery side.

Bottle from BlackforestCO. Black and oliy with a small milk chocolate head. a real attractive beer.Aroma was of strong bourban, choclate, and roasted malt. The flavor was the same with creamy milk chocolate bourbon finish. Get much better as it warms up.

22oz bottle (trade with 5000, thanks André!) Pours pitch black, capped with a moderate sized brown head. Beautiful aroma; notes of vanilla, toffee, cocoa, plum, wood, almonds and roasted malt. Chocolate malt flavor, with oak, coffee, bourbon, and ash. Ash is a bit strong for my palate. Substantial warming alcohol in the finish.

bomber shared with sammy and hyde. my bottle from a trade with douglas88. pours black with a nice tan head. light penetrated this one to leave the brew looking only dark brown in the glass. big bouron nose and top of porter notes. sweet vanilla boubon flavours mixed with a very well made porter. chocolate and caramel with some dark fruit. good stuff but a bit rough and bossy. thanks for the bottle doug!

bottle from hopdog. Like black gold bourbon light. Mild vegetable flavor distracts. Good, but not great. Mild notes of bourbon. Needs more malt background.
