Poured an opaque black color with a brown edge to it and tan head. The aroma was sweet and roasty with notes of both vanilla and chocolate. The flavor was of roasted malt. Semi-sweet with a mild bitterness The bourbon effect was light in the flavor. Light to medium body.

Bomber, 2008 vintage. Poured healthy deep brown with a swirly dusting of tan head. The aroma picked up a delectable blend of sweet bourbon, sour oak, coffee, and dark chocolates.. spicy uptick on the back. The flavor opened with almost syrupy dark malts backed by a wash of sour oak and bourbon.. coffee and chocolate at the core.. spicy on the back with oaky notes, peppery alcohol, and well-roasted espresso. Heavier-bodied and warm on the palate.. thick and stickier at some points and slicker at others with only OK coordination between the two. All in all a very good brew.

Bottle (22oz). Shared by blankboy with me, garthicus, gregclow, jerc and tupalev. Oily-looking black pour, average tan head. Nutty/oily deep roast aroma, oak, vanilla and coffee, a hint of cream. The taste follows - bourbon and chocolate with undertones of coffee and alcohol - quite sweet. Nice solid body for a porter, lightly carbonated, nice restrained oakiness in the finish, doesn’t detract from the roast - this one is well-rounded and both the booze and the barrel-aging are nicely balanced against the character and quality of the base porter - well done.

2009-03-20. Pitch black with a modest foamy tan head that fades. Sweet bourbony aroma, mild alcohol and modest roast malt. Flavour is fairly alcoholic up front, then bourbon, brief dark malts, then a very dry finish of alcohol and bourbon. (7+) Average plus to medium bodied palate. Decent stout, and the bourbon is not too over the top. Bottle shared by Blankboy

Bottle, courtesy of J.Mark. I love the pour ... oily black with a cascading tan head. Beauty. Thick aroma of fermented fruit. Drinks with all the oily intensity of a bourbon-barrel-aged monster, thick with whiskey malt smokiness, and a robustly rich body. Don’t exhale near an open flame. (#3452, 5/4/2008)

Bomber poured a translucent dark brown with a lasting brown head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, vanilla, cocao nibs and a hint of licorice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bourbon, oak, vanilla, bitter chocolate and light carmel with a smooth lingering bourbon finish.
