Dark beer with mahagony hints. Whispy beige head that lasted in the chalice. Nose of bourbon and chocolate. The flavor was dominated by the bourbon, but in pleasant proportion. Also lots of chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and some roasted grains. Very tasty beer.

sample at DLD - Pours black with a thin tan head. The aroma is of dark roast malt, chocolate, and bourbon. The flavor is led by those roast malts. The bourbon is very apparently but it works alright. This one does seem kind of light for what it is. I was expecting a bit more robust body. Some chocolate flavors come through well and overall it’s a very good quality brew.

Thanks to RiversideAK for this one and to SuzyGreenberg for a back up bottle! Black pour, tall lasting mocha head. Complex aroma, bourbon, coffee, dark chocolate. The flavor follows the aroma. Nice one!

22oz. bottle, 2008 vintage. Aroma consists of a good deal of bourbon and vanilla, along with some dark chocolate and massive alcohol, background traits include dark chocolate and hints of espresso. Opaque ebony color, head forms a slight ring of dark tan foam. Flavor is rife with hot bourbon from start to finish, this overriding much of the character that I’d guess was originally present, still managing to show some hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, earth, wood and a bit of cherry. Smooth and low in effervescence, a tad syrupy, body is certainly plenty full. This has too much bourbon. Maybe a few years in the cellar would help to mellow out and integrate things a little. Thanks to mreusch for the chance to try it, though!

22oz bottle from 2008. Pours black with a small tan head that left some spotty lacing. Tons of bourbon, fig, vanilla and oak on the nose. Good flavor but not quite up to par with the great nose of this beer. Flavors of vanilla, bourbon, dark dried fruits and a light boozy finish.

Bottle shared at tasting, also a bottle from BlackForestCO. Thanks!
Pours dark black with a medium sized tan head. Smell is light bourbon, roast and caramel. Taste is lightly to moderately alcoholic with bourbon and slightly thin bodied. Some roastiness too. Pretty decent, but just a bit too thin, overall.
