Drank this many times. Nice aroma of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, oak, roasted malts. Pours almost black with a thin tan head. Nice flavors of roast initially followed by bourbon, vanilla, some licorice, chocolate. Lingering woody finish. This one is really enjoyable to me.

Bottle 66cl. [ Courtesy of cgarvieuk ]. Clear dark black color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, cacao, vanilla, whisky, alcohol - metanol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. Very nice ;o)) (260708)

Sampled @ ogglethorp’s. Pours very dark black. Nose is intimidatingly strong of bourbon with vanilla undertones. Good thing I am not afraid of bourbon. Very full of booze with tastes of oak and dry fruit. Warm finish that could keep your innards toasty in the dead of winter.

bottle shared at the Pizza Port Bottle Shop....poured al most black with reddish brown hues towards the edges. topped off with a nice thick tan head.... enticing aroma of bourbon (but not too much so), chocolate, molasses, and was generally came together really well. the barrel-aging did not totally overwhelm the other qualities in the nose.... a very smooth flavor, bourbon and strong chocolate notes, a little boozy, and not too full of a body.....i might like this one just a little more than my score indicates but everyone should try this at some point.

Bottle generously donated to csbosox’s tasting (3/7/08) by an absentee mreusch. Thanks a ton, Matt! This was one of the highlights of the night, for me. It pours black with a creamy, tan head that diminishes to a ring around the edge of the glass; nice legs. On the nose are: bourbon, vanilla, dark roasted malt and light chocolate. Medium to full-bodied and creamy, it is silky-soft with a dry roasted finish. The flavor is of bourbon, light vanilla, wood, chocolate and dark malt. This is one tasty and very satisfying brew. If you can get your hands on a bottle, don’t hesitate to do so.

Merritt Island Throwdown ’08: Bottle, courtesy dragonstout. Pours a big dark brown, with red highlights. A thin braid of lacing remains on the glass following the drainage of the beer. Chocolate aroma is nice, with caramel and cotton candy. Some brown sugar, too. Flavor is pure chocolate, and delicious. Rich cocoa, with some slight caramel. Medium-bodied, nice aftertaste of vanilla. Easy to drink, and alcohol is fairly well hidden.

bomber shared with sammy and hyde. my bottle from a trade with douglas88. pours black with a nice tan head. light penetrated this one to leave the brew looking only dark brown in the glass. big bouron nose and top of porter notes. sweet vanilla boubon flavours mixed with a very well made porter. chocolate and caramel with some dark fruit. good stuff but a bit rough and bossy. thanks for the bottle doug!

Black pour with an espresso head. Strong oak and chocolate aroma. Flavor was Chocolate, oak, vanilla, molasses, toffee, coffee, slight ash. Finishes rather smooth, nice mouth on this one.
