Black beer , gorgeous black with a nice bubbly brown head.
Aroma of darl roasted malts, bourbon oak wood, dark chocolate, esspresso ,some rich over ripe plums.
Taste is similar to the aroma, but with a more vanilla/whiskey tone, rich deep cream, lovelly bourbon flavours in the end.
Very full palate on this thing, a meal in a bottle. deeply satisfying.
Very very nice drink, maybe a klittle strong on the bourbon, but thats fine and dandy to me. Caskalefan (43), Bellingham, Washington, USA

The alcohol is obvious, but not obtrusive in the least. This Full Sail, like Black Gold, is a winner! RSRIZZO (1368), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Mar 2, 2008 Aroma is rich with the scent of dried fruit and bourbon. Color is solid black with light carbonation and just a thin ring of tight tiny bubbles around the edge. Taste is rich, sweet and oaky. Starting with a full rich body it goes down a little sharp with a sweet feel. Finish is full of flavor with a robust dried fruit (figs and a little plum) flavor, a bourbon/oak and a deep roasted malt flavor. After taste comes in sweet with an alcohol feel, then turns to a bitterness that leaves you with a dry feel. Its like a Barley Wine with a touch of bourbon. This is one amazing brew and I would love to get more. rustychiles (1058), Mesa, Arizona, USA

Flavor of Bourbon, Chocolate, malt, a little coffee and oak. The bourbon and oak are very nicely infused and in no way offensive but still very present. This beer also has a rich creamy mouthfeel.
Very well done, best new beer I’ve tried this year! HughConway (367), Washington, USA

Incredible bourbon aroma with overtones of roast and malt. Nice sweet roast malt start followed by chocolate with bourbon finish. A fine beer. Almost pitch black, but just had the slightest little bit f light coming through the bottom of the glass. Mmm, this smells great, lots of dark fruitiness, woody, vanilla, very rich. Oak, bourbon, vanilla and chocolate in the flavor, quite excllent, Full Sail does barrel aging very well. wetherel (1637), Encinitas, California, USA

Wow, what a real treat. Huge thanks Kan! Some bourbon in the aroma/taste. Mellowed to perfection from the barrel aging. Leans to the sweet side (which I like). Delicious. Heavy body. Microfoam head. Malty aroma. Again, very delicious. Yum. EithCubes (2162), Indiana, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 3, 2009 Bomber from 2008 with a 47 on the cap under the foil. Big bourbon nose with vanilla and oak over chocolate. Very light alcohol (not harsh or boozy) and berry with a hint of coconut milk. This aroma is heavenly, one of the few 10/10’s I’ll ever give. Deep dark brown-black pour with a creamy dark brown head. Taste is very dry, sweet only around the teeth, with gentle roast and firm whiskey notes. Lightly ashy aftertaste but very smooth, alcohol warms without burning, wood and figs on deep chocolate and lessened vanilla bean. Medium body is viscous but not fat, might have some oaten slickness in there but the pct of grist would have to be low. Easily my favorite barrel-aged beer, pervasive tenderness with unremitting waves of complex flavor.
