Mar 21, 2008 Thanks to imadeadguy for sharing this one! Taste has hints of bourbon, chocolate, and caramel. Wish it had a stronger bourbon bite on the finish, a little too thin bodied for me. Good solid nothing exceptional though. I recommend this one to others.

Oct 18, 2008 [Bottle] shared by Guerde. Pours viscous black with a soapy tan head. Aroma is full of bourbon, vanilla, alcohol and is quite earthy. Flavor is sweet and a little metallic, burnt, tart/ bittersweet, and alsohol with a somewhat roasty finish. Thinnish mouthfeel. Tastes almost charred.

Jun 8, 2008 Noogfest ’08. The bodyw as perfectly black with a khaki head. I could hardly detect the barrel aging. The aroma was strong malt and chocolate. There was also some roasted coffee. The taste was coffee and chocolate. There was also some roast and green beans. Decent.

May 6, 2008 From the same bottle Holdenn brought to the FS pre-DLD party! Warm and inviting smell, deep brown color, a tinge of light. Very smooth taste of dark malts, fruit leather. Low in roasties to keep the ale side of this to the fore. I couldn’t pick out much from the barrel besides a big warming alcohol, but I’m well into several tasters when this came up.

Apr 16, 2008 Bomber from RiversideAK. Thanks, Alex! Shared with Ethan (emacgee). Nose is roasty with some strong oak and bourbon characteristics. Flavor has a lot of bourbon up front with some roasted malt, chocolate, and dark fruit notes. This beer was pretty good and almost great at times, but it seemed to lack consistency and balance overall. I feel like the bourbon aging took away too much from the base porter. That’s why I’m not such a huge fan of this whole bourbon/ brandy/rum barrel aging frenzy.

Mar 7, 2008 Black body with a small tan head, fading. The nose is sweet chocolate, buttery bourbon, ash and molasses. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter with chocolate, vanilla and bourbon. Medium/full body is round and a bit chalky with moderate carbonation and a rough, warming finish.

Jun 10, 2009 chocolate and bourbon are the guys running the show, but bourbon is the husband, and he puts his foot down and takes the belt off .. . Pours a jet brown/black, has a pretty big whipped coffee coloured head, lacing is quality for such a high abv brew .. . bourbon is the first thing to hit in the nose and taste, some chocolate and tar also .. . very smooth and easy to drink but the bourbon with make it a sipper, some light heat, but just enough, a year or 6 months would do this brew nicely! .. . i am liking a hell of alot this i think the BA imperial stout was alot smoother .. . if you like imperial porters, and like bourbon aged beers, this might do you just right .. . Stuart Holden is a fuckin badass, hou dynamo 1 chivas 0 at the half .. .
