Oak and Bourbon waft from the glass. It’s dark with a thin expresso bead of foam. Good roasted malt flavor that holds up well with double chocolate cupcakes. apshah99 (146), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 18, 2008 2008 brewmaster reserve, 9.85 abv. Almost black pour with creamy dark brown head. Heady alcoholic aroma with syrupy malt and maybe figs. Roasted dark chocolate flavor ending in slightly bitter malty licorice. Wonderful taste, although not quite full enough on the palate. Great beer. Oakes (8142), Kowloon, Hong Kong
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 7, 2008 Slightly hazy dark brown. Rich, thick aroma - lots of toffee, bourbon, wood, coffee, nuts, all in balance. Rich, chewy toffee palate. Decadent and sublimely balanced. Full Sail has a certain restraint in their beers that I feel really lends itself to things like barrel-aging. joet (1709), Fulton, California, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | May 23, 2008 22-oz bottle purchased at Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Pours opaque with a small, fizzy, dark brown head, somewhat diminishing with a very thin film left behind, fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toast), average hops (perfume), average yeast (leather) with notes of prunes, dates, figs, raisins, bourbon, and chocolate. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter-chalky finish with a slight alcohol burn. Long duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness. This one should age quiet well.
