Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Apr 23, 2007 Bomber. Pours dark and oily with a nice brownish head. Fades off. Aroma is a nice sweet malt with strong roasted flavors, light fruitiness. Taste is robust and roasty, with just a touch of sourness. Effective bittering and alcohol bite add to the punch. Medium bodied, could be beefed up slightly I think. Enjoyable as expected. Earlier Rating: 2/9/2002 Total Score: 4 Very good porter. Dark. As. Shit. I held it up to the light and couldn’t see through it. Good taste with a little carbonation, good finish. Full Sail can’t go wrong.
illinismitty (1407), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 14, 2008 1999 Vintage, courtesy of Greg Koch at RBSG, Stone Bistro. Pours deep brown with a tan head. Nice roasty nose. Lighter side of medium bodied with an airy carbonation. Flavor of coffeee and black patent malts, with a touch of smoke. Faded hop bitterness. This has a hint of staleness to it. Still drinkable for a 9 year old beer but I would not hold on to this one much longer if I had it. Ross will be bitching to me on AIM in about two minutes crying that I should not rate beers past their prime., since he never rates vintage beers. yespr (6259), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 7, 2008 From bottle at Stone Bistro, 1999, thanks to Greg Koch. Pours black with a beautiful tan head. Smooth roasted chocolate malty aroma. Flavour continues this with a smooth chocolate presence and light roasted malt flavour. The roasted flavour lasts into the far finish. WeeHeavySD (1711), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Aug 3, 2008 1999 Bottle @ RBSG from DR.Bill or from GReg Koch. Pours black with a tan ring. Nose is smokey and roasty. Taste is sweet and nice. Much better than today’s fullsail wetherel (994), Carlsbad, California, USA Aug 3, 2008 12oz bottle at Stone during RBSG. Had reserve 1999 label on it. Don’t think it was barrel aged, but old and special. Black. Tan head. Leans dry. Some chocolate. Nice. Easy to drink. Skyview (2801), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 29, 2008 Sampled at weekly RB gathering in St Paul, Minnesota and shared by Guerde. Pours a dark brown brew with a decent tan head that quickly dissipates to a thin tan ring with some spotty lacing. Aroma of toasted dark chocolate malt, toffee, dark pitted fruits, roasted nuts and some citrus. Taste is full bodied, light carbonated with flavors of toasted dark malt, chocolate, a touch of coffee and some dark pitted fruits. Finish is semi-dry with a long lasting toasted dark malt aftertaste. Actually, quite enjoyable.
