CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Apr 16, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra. Damn, smells almost like a sour ale with a bunch of nuts added. Great flavor with a very yeasty, nutty finish. An incredibly original and complex brew. Really dug it. PJClarke (609), London, Greater London, England Apr 8, 2009 From a bottle at the brewery tap:
Deep brown with a lovely head.
Cow manure and deep blue cheese notes. Some light freshness in the form of rustic pears.
Rich and boozy, barnyards and Gruyere in the mouth.
Thin and a bit of a strange one this. I wouldn’t necessarily choose to have it again. MitchWayne (264), Kokkola, Finland Apr 8, 2009 A nice beer from Fuller’s, too bad it went out of sale here. Can’t see any reason for it, this is one of the most consistent british ales around. Fruits and nuts in the aroma, dry nutty hoppy taste with some sweetness thrown in. Works for me and was one of the first good things I tasted that got me into beer in the first place. dkachur (2316), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Apr 7, 2009 16.9 ounce bottle from WIne Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear red color with a large frothy head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma of grain, nuts, caramel and tart fruit notes. Taste is bitter hops, caramel, grain, nuts. Medium bodied. guzzler67 (1272), Hanover, Maryland, USA Apr 6, 2009 Average size tan head atop a garnet body that leaves nice lacing. Aroma of soft fruit, bready malts and yeast. Earthy taste, some sweetness, mild nuttiness, but well balanced by fragrant, floral hops. Very smooth mouthfeel, gently carbonated, with a dry, long lasting finish. Complex, but extremely drinkable. KnN (712), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Apr 5, 2009 Pours a really nice copper color with a long lived white head.Aroma is hoppy with a big malt undertone. Some fruit and maybe a little Cinnamon? Clove? Flavor is very fry, some gof hop bitterness, but then a big malt character as well. There was something really kind of odd and metallic in the backend though. A bit off-putting. Pretty decent beer if it wasn’t for that metallic twang. evergreen0199 (259), London, Greater London, England Apr 4, 2009 Bottle from Tesco. Copper coloured beer from my native west London. Malty, caramel, fruity, spicy, almost like a light English Christmas cake. This is a really cracking quality beer which I can never tire of.
