A super fresh and delicious malt-rich beer. Slight hop bite in the finish-- and somewhat unexpected-- but still a very smooth finish. Just an excellent beer, and probably the best thing I have ever tasted from England.

500 ml bottle. Pours with light bege head. Liquid is clear but dark amber/copper. Malty aroma of roasted and caramel malts. Strong and a bit grassy hops. Some sweet fruity aromas. Bitter finish wiht a hint of nuts. Good balance of sweet malts and bitterness. Medium to full bodied, very smooth carbonation. A bit sticky finish with bitterness.

Appearance: copper color. Medium to great head with beige color and persistency. Aroma: caramel malts, toast sugar and intensive fruity aromas like peaches, red-apples and oranges. Some nutty taste, liquory truffles, red tea and light wood smells. Flavor: intensive caramel malts and butterscotch star, not sickly, balanced for the dryness from the toast. Nutty and light smoke taste. Sweet ripe fruitiness like red-apples, peaches and candied oranges and papayas. Other reminiscences of red-tea, chamomile and old rum. Medium to high dryness, lasting, similar to stone of peaches, orange peel and medicinal herbs. Palate: medium body with silky texture. Low to medium carbonation. Remark: a nice fruity and medicinal herby dryness. Some complex beer, balanced and with own-character. Very advisable.

Clear copper color and off-white creamy, lacy head. Aroma is roasty and caramel malty, slightly metallic too. Roasty malty, a bit syrupy flavor. Bitter ending. Quite full-bodied, smooth carbonation, sticky palate.

Thanks to ekstedt & friends. Copper with an offwhite head. Malty fudge aroma. Bitter with an even more bitter aftertaste. Somewhat dry mouthfeel. Light carbonation.

Beer pours deep amber color with some head. The aroma is caramel and diacetyl. The flavor was a rich and complex blend of toasty bready malts, sweet caramel malts, spices and even a little grassiness. There was that butteriness, too, that wasn’t flattering and kept the beer from really being clean. A bitter hop finish attempted to balance things out, but not sure it succeeded. All in all, a pretty good example of the style.
