Copper colored with a frothy head. Nice, but mild earthy, grainy smell. Med body with a smooth mouthfeel. A light taste is same as the smell with pale malts and an earthy yeastyness. Finishes very dry. Highly drinkable. 82505

Bottle. Cherry aroma, light hops. Pours a dark red-brown with a thick bubbly brown head. Malty with good body. Opens sweet and fades into a well-established hop finish with cherry and caramel notes. Smoke interplays with light citrus. Very well brewed beer.

Bottle. Pours a clear deep amber brown colour with a creamy small but well lasting light brown head leaving a very good lacing. Soft sweetish aroma with well toasted malt, hops and spices. Good mouthfeel. The flavour is sweet with a nice hoppy frutiness, well toasted caramel and malt and some spices. Dry and bitter toasty alco finish. Tasty ale indeed.

Bottle: Strong Dark fruit aroma. Black cherries and citrus. Dark Brown/Amber light head, beautiful lacing. Sweet candy flavor upfront with smoked malts and a nice hop finish. Full bodied and extremely well balanced. More please!

Pours a clear, medium amber.....thin off-white head. Predominatly fruity aroma....with some candied sugar underneath (I guess you could say it is similar to fruit cake fruit, but I really hate fruit cake....and this has a good aroma to it). Also a subtle hint of spice. Crystal malts on the front, giving it a nice, sweet flavor, followed by a mixture of fruit, spice and hops (the Goldings come through nicely). Finish is clean, with little lingering flavor. A very drinkable beer.

500 ml bottle. pours brown with a small off white head. aromas are sweet malts but not a lot goin on. flavours are pretty standard caramel malts with almost no hops. mouthfeel was thin. not bad, but overpriced mediocure english ale.

Bottle bought at the L.C.B.O. in Ottawa. The color is a dark brown with very little head. The aroma is sweet . The taste is also swwet of toffee and berry fruits to end with that great malt taste to make it a great beer to have again and again.

0.5L bottle pours clear amber with rocky-frothy tan head and sheet lacing. Nice full aroma with prunes, gingerbread, molasses, cherries and fruit cake. Nice. The taste is much like the aroma starting with fruit cake, cherries and boysenberries. By midway malts enter the picture with roasted malts that move toward caramel and toffee notes. Into the finish malts mix with cherries and prunes. The only knock would be the thin-ish body. Nice brew.

I only noticed after I was done rating that this brew had a best by date of 10/NOV/05. I consumed it in Dec. 2007. It is certainly best by even a few more years.
