Strykzone (1459), Wood River, Illinois, USA Oct 26, 2007 A huge head greeted me upon pouring this beer. The foam is light tan and the body is the color of dark honey. Waiting on the head to subside is misery because the beer looks so inviting. Aroma is very malty with fruit and coffee. Flavor is loaded with malt and bitterness. It is a delicious beer and provides more warming than the 6.3% ABV should. As well as malt there are lots of dark fruit, toffee, and spice flavors. This is a nice looking, smooth, flavorful, great smelling beer. What more should be said? Otje (668), Leiden, Netherlands Oct 26, 2007 Very nice strong ale; lots of strong ales tend to have a overly alc. taste, but not this one. Porterish in style, lots of coffee, but also citrus fruits and some dark fruits. Bitter finish, and nicely balanced. Good! robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA Oct 25, 2007 pours a dark amber with a touch of ruby, medium size egg-shell head.
smell - malts, some hops, toffee, a little coffee.
taste - clean malts, just a touch of citrus and prunes, ends dry and biter. Wegro (218), Fresno, California, USA Oct 23, 2007 Dark Amber. Smells fruity and spicy. Tastes similar with more hops than I was expecting. Watery texture, not too fizzy. A good beer but I was expecting more. beergut111 (210), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 22, 2007 Bottle. Poured a nice amber colour. Spicy and malty and a nice hoppy bite at the end. Great beer with a cool story behind it. yarry (370), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Oct 22, 2007 500ml bottle, 6.3% a/v
Dark ruby/copper pour, light tan head. Nose is of metal, malt, and some spice.Tastes spicy and malty with a very dry fruit/hop finish. Nice beer! seandwyer (10), USA Oct 20, 2007 Bottle. What an awesome surprise. Deep amber pour with heavy beige froth. Taste is jamey. Nice nutty almondy palate. Lacing proves the boldness of the beer. Was never a fan of esb or london pride from fullers but this beer (and of course london porter) keep fullers a top my list. sm89walt (433), Norwich, Norfolk, England Oct 15, 2007 Bottle. Pours a lovely deep amber with a frothy, medium-sized beige head that lasts quite well. A sweeping and lively carbonation. Pleasant sweet and fruity aroma mixed with nuttier tones. Fantastic spicey and nutty flavours with sweetish undertones. The hops in this beer are demanding on the palate and full of flavour leading to a superb finish. A gorgeous ale from Fullers.
