| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 1/5 | 19/20 | Oct 20, 2007 Bottle. What an awesome surprise. Deep amber pour with heavy beige froth. Taste is jamey. Nice nutty almondy palate. Lacing proves the boldness of the beer. Was never a fan of esb or london pride from fullers but this beer (and of course london porter) keep fullers a top my list. sm89walt (439), Canterbury, Kent, England
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 15, 2007 Bottle. Pours a lovely deep amber with a frothy, medium-sized beige head that lasts quite well. A sweeping and lively carbonation. Pleasant sweet and fruity aroma mixed with nuttier tones. Fantastic spicey and nutty flavours with sweetish undertones. The hops in this beer are demanding on the palate and full of flavour leading to a superb finish. A gorgeous ale from Fullers. | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Oct 14, 2007 Incredible. It pours a deep, clear reddish amber with a thick, dense light tan head that lasts ’till the end and leaves thick lacing in layers down the glass that stay well after the beer is gone. The aroma is strong and thickly aromatic, toffee malt, fruity and with citrusy hops. The taste is sweetish, a hint of caramel, fruit, very floral hops with a bite, a hint of sweet spice & cinnamon that lingers faintly in the aftertaste. It is wonderfully rich and complex while being incredibly balanced, drinkable, and smooth. Just about perfection in a bottle, I don’t see that one could reasonably expect beer to be better under normal circumstances. I would drink this just about all the time if it were less expensive. This is what ale is supposed to be!! It’s even better than Young’s Special London, which is saying A LOT. SamGamgee (1429), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 13, 2007 50cl bottle from systembolaget. Clear dark, redish amber with a medium off-white head that leaves a nice layer of foam after a few minutes. Yeasty, malty, and fruity aroma has a nice dustiness and citrus from the hops. This is thicker than I thought. Very full with gentle carbonation and slight stickyness. flavor is lots of sweet caramel malt with fruity notes all over, partially due to the citrus added by the hops. Very rich. firm hop character leads to a dry and bitter citrus peel finish; a stark change from the initial sweetness. Love the complexity. Love that Fullers yeast in there too; anchors the range nicely. GRM (1252), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 9, 2007 Updated: Jul 9, 2009500ml bottle. Pours a nice dark-mahogany colour, with a medium sized tan head, that subsides quickly to a decent surface film. The aromas are of fruits, with a lot of emphasis on some citrusy hops, almost like grapefruits. There’s almost a hint of dark roasty chocolate malts in their too. The taste is fruity up front, followed quickly by a slightly forceful hop bite, anf then a dry hoppy finish, with a malty after taste. There’s a very subtle hint of the slightly higher ABV, but it’s definitely out-done by the hops. A highly enjoyable and complex brew.
