jimthechap (174), Christchurch, New Zealand Sep 7, 2006 If Youngs Special London Ale can be compared to Alan Shore from Boston Legal (which, I think it can), then this is Denny Crane through and through. I had three of these bottles, all of which were about a month past their best before date. Each one had different approaches on attacking the palate, but all seemed to demand that I had a cigar with them. They varied from soft and gravelly smooth to frankly just tasting a bit old. Slightly mad cow in character but well worth getting again. burpfrank (293), carpinteria, California, USA Sep 4, 2006 This had an average head.small aroma of coffee, chocolate.Color was brown. It tasted chocolatly, and coffee. There was a background flavor that I can’t quite describe. It is a bit grassy, bitter, sour, grapefuit?Good, sneaky alcohol.Good complex beer.would buy again. SSSteve (2045), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 3, 2006 amber. large off-white head. malty fruity aroma. soft mouthfeel. fruits and toasty malts dominate the flavor. very estery. moderately sweet. gelatinous. jgentgesdo (564), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Sep 3, 2006 Pours copper/amber with medium off-white head that has great lacing. Nose is apples and pears, rather sweet, and something that reminds me of eggnog. Flavor is very malty with some spicy yeasty overtones. Limited hops character comes on towards the end. Very smooth. Pretty good stuff. Bockyhorsey (2487), Mesa, Arizona, USA Sep 2, 2006 Bottle best before 20/jun/06. A decent fermented fruit aroma to this beer. Amber body with large head and good lacing. A rich spicey apple flavor some caramelized body to this one. Dry fruity aftertaste on palate. Another good beer pick out for me by my wife. seeknay36 (109), Port Jefferson Station, New York, USA Aug 31, 2006 Bottle. Pours amber in color with a Great head. Fantastic lace.
